The game starts with Murphy Pendleton, prisoner RS 273A at the Ryall State Corrections Facility, going down in an elevator. A guard, George Sewell, meets you as you exit the elevator, telling you that it is all set and to make it quick. Follow the guard. This early part of the game is a sort of tutorial to let you get used to the controls. Watch the tips on the screen telling you how to move, control the camera, or zoom in. It should also tell you how to interact with doors and other objects in the environment.
The guard leads you to the shower area, telling you that someone "is all yours" and that he left you a little present on the bench. Open the door and go in. You hear a voice telling you that he is going to let you in on a little secret. When you guys are running the showers, the steam fogs up the cameras so bad, that they can't see anything that goes down in there. That's a hint to turn on the showers. Stand next to the faucets and turn all the showers on.
Pick up a weapon from the bench in the corner. Patrick Napier comes out of the shower. He asks what the hell is going on, and where Sewell is. He tells you that there has been a mistake, he is a sequestered prisoner and that you are not supposed to be there. You ask him if he recognizes you. He doesn't. He calls for the guards, but noone answers.
You tell him that you used to be neighbors. Patrick runs to the door, but its locked. He bangs the door, repeatedly asking for help. He tells you this is a violation of his rights. The cutscene ends.
You are now supposed to beat him up. In case you did not know, this is a pretty graphic game. So if you are faint of heart, this might not be the game for you. Otherwise, if you can stand watching some blood and gore and other graphic scenes, proceed to attack him.
Your weapon will break eventually, pick up another weapon and keep beating him up. You stick the knife in his shoulder. Another cutscene will start eventually. He asks you why you are doing this. You tell him that he knows exactly why. You wake up from a dream inside your prison cell. Sewell handcuffs you. Apparently you are due for a transfer. He calls to open 302B. Your cell door opens. Follow Sewell through the corridors when the cutscene ends. After you cross Block B, another cutscene begins.
Sewell asks you if you will miss them, you tell him not even a little. He tells you to give it a couple of days at Wayside Max and you will miss that place. You follow the prisoners to a transport bus. The female officer appears to know you, referring to you buy name as you board the bus.
In the bus, you fall asleep, and another cutscene begins. You see some scenes including your son Charlie playing in the garden, disappearing, and your arrest. When you wake up, a prisoner next to you asks you if you really did it. The female cops tells him to shut up. The bus driver looks back to see what the commotion is all about, and loses control of the bus, which then rolls off the highway and down the ridge, rolling over a few times in the process.
