Xenoblade Chronicles Guide- Walkthrough Part 44:Leg Pass

Before you actually reach the next major area, you will find Reyn and Shulk wandering through a narrow pass in the rock.  This is the Leg Pass, and the Ragrinar Canyon Path.  There’s not a lot to see here, but you’ll find yourself running into a group of three travelers.  This is most significant because one of them will give you a set of four quests for the upcoming region of the Bionis Path, which holds a few developments of familiar monsters, and a much larger number of new monsters- which is a bit of a relief, because those vang, caterpile, and brog were getting a bit monotonous.  Unfortunately, you’re not free of bunnit territory, which is sad because these creatures have so far been pretty unremarkable.

The shop is a bit interesting- it offers some new gear- but don’t go for it just yet.  You’ll soon be running into another shop with even better gear, and a bunch of trading chances as well.  For now, take advantage of the opportunity to gather some quests and thus some information on the upcoming region- the Bionis’ Leg.

The traveler with the quests has four requests, ones that you’ll likely find yourself fulfilling as you go about your traveling anyways, so grab them immediately: Kill 2 Leg Ardun, Kill 3 Maker Bunnit, Kill 5 Field Ponio, and Kill 3 Leg Volff (who only come out at night).

There’s not much else to see here in the pass, so take this opportunity to relax a little, maybe play a bit with your party setup and your skill and art choices by going back to Kneecap Hill a few times.  About now, Reyn should have more Arts than he has space for- so you’re going to have to start choosing which Arts you like better on him.  He may have as many as three different Auras to go with his Aura discharging move and his area attacks, so it might be a good idea to drop his spare taunts.  You should probably only keep two Auras on him- he can only use one at a time anyways, and their durations are generally long enough to almost overlap.

You’ll also find here or soon that Shulk gets access to a newMonado Art, and now is a good time to catch up on tutorials.

Most importantly, there’s a bit more to know about the Future Gauge that the Monado will provide you with when an enemy is preparing an Art.  Specifically, if you Topple something that’s caused a Future Gauge, you’ll only delay the attack- but if you go so far as to Daze it, not only will you delay the attack, you’ll force it into a weaker form.  You can also Chain Attack whatever’s set the Future Gauge to pause the charge of the attack, and postpone it to later, giving you more chances to do something about it (like kill whatever’s about to pull something nasty).

Once you’ve reviewed a bit and prepared, it’s time to move on to a new region!
