Frustrated that the combat hasn’t accomplished anything, Reyn exclaims over the apparently endless mass of Mechon that the group are facing, and wonders where they’re all coming from. Sharla says that she can handle the little ones, but dealing with the larger ones will be like fighting Xord over and over again. Griping aloud over the inability of the Monado to damage those Mechon, Shulk is interrupted by Dunban, who tells him to focus- which is interrupted when a giant scythe reaches out for him. Reyn tackles him out of the way, but any chance for Shulk to focus just then is pretty much shot.
Metal Face taunts the homs with a ‘look at you all’- interrupted by Dickson offering him a close look at an ether bullet. He blocks the attack with claws sheathed in ether, leaving the older blond grumbling that he’s nearly out of ideas. Dunban leaps at the Mechon, suggesting that he can’t block a sword- but Metal Face does just that, interposing his claws again and then backhanding the black-cloaked warrior with a derisive comment about his ineffectiveness.
Not even bothering to keep attacking with his claws, Metal Face continues the taunting, proclaiming that Shulk’s got to hurt- because the Monado won’t work for ‘a bunch of losers like you’. Dunban interrupts to ask what Metal Face is- but the Mechon discards that as unimportant. Rising to his full height, he begins gathering a ball of what looks like electrical energy on the spire/tail over his head, declaring that the group needs to ‘learn when you’ve been stepped on’. Recognizing the light, Dunban shouts to the others to fall back, but Metal Face says that it won’t help and he’s going to get rid of the lot of them permanently.
Just as he’s about to strike, a blast of green energy sidelines him, causing him to lose the electricity he’s gathered. Metal Face looks up and so does the camera- something resembling a giant white bird is flying overhead. The Mechon appears to recognize what ever it is, exclaiming something about ‘a Telethia’. Whatever it is comes around, swooping over the path and blasts all of the Xord look alikes, apparently destroying them in a single sweep and knocking Metal Face down again.
Seeing his chance, Shulk clambers up onto the blade-handed Mechon and hacks once at its armor- then holds the Monado there, the ether of its blade somehow grinding and biting into the armor, digging a long notch that causes Metal Face to scream- whether in pain or frustration is unclear. Strangely helpless, Metal Face shouts that Shulk will pay for that, wondering how he’s managed it. The blond ignores him, simply shouting in effort and continuing to press the mythic sword into the Mechon, the power around the blade building-
And the power in his eyes.
