Xenoblade Chronicles Guide- Walkthrough Part 111: Lower Satorl Marsh Creatures (Part 2)

Lower Satorl Marsh Area
Level Range: 22-26 and 80-84

Brog- Brog down here are big.  Really big.  Though they’re of a size where they could easily just eat you and be done with it, the lizard-frogs thankfully do nothing of the sort, giving you a fighting chance.  There are two forms of Brog here- the ones that lurk in the poisonous parts of the marsh and the ones that don’t.  Both forms of Brog are high enough level to use the Smash attack, a powerful belly-flop that dazes those whom it hits for a short time.  Both forms of Brog aren’t terribly dangerous other than for the fact that they are fairly strong and fairly durable, certainly miles beyond the Upa.  How much of that is there level and how much of that is the fact that they’re Big creatures is uncertain.  Lastly, all the Brog here are sight-aggressive, so pay attention to which way they’re looking if you want to avoid a fight.

Types: Detox Brog, Poison Brog

Vang- Vang here only appear in the small cave near where the Nopon Merchants have set up camp.  While bigger and tougher than the other Vang you’ve faced so far, they remain mostly an unremarkable creature that might be a bit of a pest now and again.  Don’t worry too much about these.

Types: Satorl Vang

Volff- In the same area as the greater number of Quadwing (and Stormy Windardun), you can also find some Satorl Volff.  These Volff aren’t all too much more dangerous than the ones you’ve seen so far- their level is higher, but so is yours.  You do need to watch out that you don’t attract too many of them at once- while there aren’t a lot of them, they’re sight-aggressive and wander a -lot-.  They do have an attack that causes you to stagger briefly, but as it’s not a full-on stun or Topple, don’t worry too much.

Types: Satorl Volff

Feris- Feris are a new type of creature you’ll find only at night.  That basically means don’t touch in this area, which is perfectly alright.  Most of the Feris are non-threatening pack fighters, making them mostly impressive to look at- they’re fairly pretty for a hybrid between a lion and a thorny plant.  Keep a look-out, though- near the border between the Lower Satorl and Upper Satorl levels, you can run afoul of Veteran Yozel and its two companions- Veteran Yozel being not only an aggressive form of Feris, but also a named one.

Types: Green Feris (Level 80-84), Veteran Yozel (Level 83)

Igna- Igna are a new sort of enemy that you’ll start seeing near the border between the Lower Satorl and Upper Satorl portions.  These lizardmen- apparently named to some degree after iguanas- are all aggressive, but never pack fighters.  They do, however, generally travel/wander in groups of two to four, where gaining the attention of one also grabs the rest of that group as well.  The different varieties of Igna are fairly apparent, as they carry gear- some of them are frontline fighters, and others fight by Ether Art from a distance.  Thankfully, the Ether Art users don’t have much to rely on in terms of power and can mostly be ignored until you’ve laid flat their melee bretheren.  The two named Igna have the ability to taunt, and to shield themselves somewhat- but remain only moderately dangerous.

Types: Duel Igna, Ether Igna, Fighter Igna, Cautious Balteid, Tumultous Felix
