Steadily attacking with Evasive Fire means a constant generation of Hatred for this build. The whole time it attacks, it should be dropping Spike Traps regularly- this sets up a nasty combination with Parting Gift that forces a lot of damage into anything that closes range with it while it’s shooting. While the Spike Traps are expensive in Hatred for the full batch, the real point isn’t to kill with them alone.
When you’re feeling up to moving around on your own, rather than relying on Evasive Fire to get you to a new spot when enemies close in on you, Smoke Screen and Vault can both get you out of the way easily, letting you leave behind your Spike Traps- and with Choking Gas and Trail of Cinders available, either one can cause considerable damage to anything that follows you. These should be what you usually use to escape- Evasive Fire’s backflip isn’t as controllable as you want your movement to be, and the damage is less impressive- particularly compared to the duration of Choking Gas’ effect. Shuriken Cloud should always be active- 10 Hatred is a tiny cost, and the PBAoE damage aura lets you take strong advantage of your motion to deal additional damage to enemies- especially ones that try to sneak up behind you before you Vault or Smoke Screen. Fan of Knives is there to fit the theme, and to give you an option to try and kill things that close in should your Discipline pool be empty. It also, thanks to Hail of Knives, is your ‘other’ long-range attack, alongside Evasive Fire. Of course, with both Vault and Smoke Screen available you shouldn’t have to fight ranged enemies at long range, but you may want to anyhow.
Tactical Advantage goes a long way to improving Smoke Screen, Vault, and Evasive Fire, turning all three skills into strong repositioning and escape tools. Vengeance provides you with more Hatred, which means more Spike Traps left behind you when you evacuate an area. Last of all, Perfectionist cuts the cost of both Vault and Smokescreen, letting you rely less on Evasive Fire’s backflip if you prefer the more controllable evasive maneuvers.
This build tends to travel all over the place as it fights, so most parties won’t care for it much- but if Smoke Screen and Vault are used correctly, you can generally keep your wandering in a relatively close area, forcing enemies into circles and patterns of traps. When playing solo, you should probably not accompany this build with a follower, as it likes to trail enemies behind it a long ways, and the follower can get left behind and knocked out of combat fairly easily. You shouldn’t need them anyway- the build is very evasive and can do plenty of damage on its own, giving it both strong survival and offense.
