Pokemon Conquest- Conquest Four: A Shocking Experience (4/5)
Compounding the other dangers and difficulties of this battle is the hidden threat- the most dangerous pokemon on the battlefield is not, in fact, the mighty Shinx that Ginchiyo fields. Your largest obstacle is actually going to be Takatane’s Mareep. Interference is a very strong ability, especially on a battlefield like this with so few channels of motion- lowering your accuracy (usually that of two or three pokemon at once) severely hinders your ability to deal damage, and it only gets worse when it’s borderline impossible to strike from the rear and get the improved accuracy that is usually a benefit of such an angle of attack. Whether you intend a full-on blitz or a careful bypass to reach the Electric types you may want on your side in later fights, that Mareep needs to be very high on your priority list. The sheep’s attack also takes advantage of the battlefield, hitting two targets as long as they’re in a line and carrying a chance of paralysis to each. It doesn’t help that the thing has the highest offense in your opponent’s squad- thankfully its low speed cuts its ability to dodge a bit.
On the upside, this makes him not only a likely target to take out quickly enough to gain him as a warrior, his combination of Top Speed with Interference and the strong defenses of the Mareep/Flaafy/Ampharos line of evolutions makes him potentially incredibly useful in virtually every battle you can field him- so at least there’s a benefit from needing to take him out first.
Actually gaining any of the warriors with Electric Pokemon from here is rare, so don’t rely on it at all- but don’t worry too much either. Neither Chrysalia nor Pugilis is a place that really wants you to have anything from here, so instead focus on winning as best you can despite the multiple obstacles that are compounding one another the whole duration of the fight.
Make sure you keep your pokemon on the darker-colored tiles that run outwards from the central tower as much as possible. This will keep you not only clear of any electricity prompted by the floor-buttons but also away from some of the more dangerous areas within the four quarters where movement is more restricted. In dealing with these areas, the levitation ability of Carnivine is hugely useful, allowing it to even pass straight over the central electric tower to reach any targets you happen to select for it. This also lets it get behind enemies, a good way to make up for the effects of Takatane’s Interference ability.
Taking out Muneshige is very easy if you bring an Onix with you- otherwise, you’re stuck trying to run Jigglypuff and Eevee across the battlefield to face it, when you really need their higher overall power (thanks to constant use) to handle Ginchiyo’s Shinx and Takatane’s Mareep. If you’re lucky, you picked up a Warrior or two with the Eagle Eye skill, so that you can still hit Mareep even when it inevitably survives your first barrage of attacks and reduces your ability to actually connect with anything.
