On the flip side, it becomes a very weak strategy when you’re prepared for it: neither of them ever moves their Pokemon from the banners they land on. This makes it vastly easier to avoid their attacks by positioning your Pokemon where they cannot be hit. Generally speaking, you’ll want to go after Drillbur and the mobile pokemon first, as Gallade is going to require half- or more- of your team to properly handle.
On his turn after you first knock out a Pokemon from his forces, Kenshin brags again- “Their power is considerable... but they are no match for Kenshin!”
Kenshin’s sister, Aya, is more reasonable, though. She comments that Kenshin appears to be having a good time- but he shouldn’t be proclaiming himself your inevitable superior. She reasons that if he believes he ought to win, he must prove it first by doing so, not by claiming that it will be so.
After this, Kenshin’s forces offer no more than the usual commentary on the battle.
Don’t be surprised or upset if Kenshin beats you the first time- or even the first few times- you assault Illusio. Even having a higher total power is incapable of guaranteeing you a win- the key to winning this fight is having enough power mobile, be it via flight, the portals, or the cubes, to bring siege to Gallade. If you have the offensive power necessary to knock out that heavy hitter, then the rest of the battle will be easy.
Once you finally conquer Kenshin’s terrain and tactics, and have passed through the usual victory screens, Kenshin returns. He calls you ‘very impressive’, and acknowledges you as his better. He then offers you his services as a Warrior, saying that ‘[his] might will be of use in bringing righteousness to this world.’
He then calls out ‘Nemesis’- prompting Shingen to emerge from the shadows, accompanied by his Rhyperior. The tessen-wielding warrior was watching your battle with Kenshin, and declares that he, too, wants to join your army. The two consider briefly, the interesting situation of the pair of rivals united under one banner- a strange day indeed, to them.
Aya comments that her brother looks unusually happy (difficult to discern with Kenshin’s unusually deadpan face), prompting Kanetsugu to cut in and point out that Kenshin and Shingen are among the most powerful warlords in Ransei. He then compliments you on the sudden upset you’ve brought about by gathering them both under your own command.
