Heart of the Swarm Campaign- Zeras: Waking the Ancient (Part 2)
As far as the primal DNA goes, the two pools are located along the sides of the map to which your main base is adjacent- each three-quarters of the way across the map. Be careful when seeking these out, as Kerrigan is vastly useful in your meat-gathering force and can rarely be spared from it thanks to the raw power of the native primal Zerg.
Brakk, the primal who opposes you here, will also send out parts of his hive to attack not only your base, but the quillgor and the meat they drop. Each time the primal forces kill off a quillgor group and start attacking the dropped meat, you will be immediately alerted. You then have roughly one minute to get to the meat and destroy the attacking primals before the meat is instead ruined and you are left with less options. Be quick or be ready to respond quickly- if Brakk destroys seven of the meat sources, you will have failed your mission. Air attackers are vital to this mission, so make sure you're producing either mutalisks or queens and hydralisks. Because mutalisks are both fast and airborne, they will tend to arrive at places faster than your other units- this makes them a bit iffy to use alongside ground forces, particularly given their frailty and low attack damage. On the other hand, if you can mass up a large enough group of them, they make an excellent rapid-response team that will reduce the number of separate groups you have to keep active in the field at any given time- something you should really consider if you’re less adept at micromanaging and better at resource gathering and quick upgrades.
As you explore the map, you will encounter clusters of idling primal Zerg that will attack your units on sight, including the first swarm hosts you've seen so far in the campaign. What's more, some of these primal Zerg will have buildings beside them, which turn out to be capable of uprooting themselves and both moving and attacking- for these are actually individual Zerg. The primal hives will also spawn new Zerg occasionally, so if you want to cut into the attacking forces, you'll want to take them out wherever you find them. If you feel like really putting a dent into the enemy forces, you can make your way to the far Southeast corner of the map, where Brakk's base is, and directly assault the attackers- this will prevent both enemy attack forces and the launch of the primal bands that try to take out the quillgor.
