The Last Of Us Walkthrough Part 65 – Chapter 9: Lakeside Resort (Joel Heads To Town to  Back At the Steakhouse)

Head over to the service station on the right in a crouch. There are 4 reasons to do this: Survivors. There are 4 searching the area ahead while a fifth watches from on top of a trailer. When you can reach the trailer then 2 more will join the area from the other side. Keep this in mind.

For now just head into the service station through the garage. Go through the door ahead of you on the left and into the store area of this building. Look at the empty cases opposite you to find some Crafting Items. Grab them and wait there. 2 of the Survivors are searching this area at the moment. Use Listen Mode to locate them and start plotting. If you get spotted then they will all converge on your rather quickly. If one of them spots you, it is a very good idea to throw a Smoke Bomb at them. This will give you enough cover and time to deal with most of the Survivors in the area. If things look really bad then run on out of the gas station and hide behind the Silver Lake Sign that you passed on the way in.

After having dealt with the Survivors around the Gas Station, head out of the station through the garage and over to the stone wall opposite it. Hug against it and head forward to the building it leads to. This is a little motel. Go to the right until you find a cracked pillar with a truck next to it. Head inside and go on through to the back where the bathroom is. Climb out the window into the back alley and turn to the left. You will find a Shiv Door there so break in. Inside you will find the manual for Smoke Bomb Upgrade #2, adding 20 seconds to the time the smoke lingers. Grab everything else you can from the Shiv Room then start down the alley you are in. It is time to get on past the guard post they have set up.

Move to the end of the alley and look at the Survivor on top of the container. Wait for him to be looking forward then slip into the container and get through it. Go over to the right-hand side of the street after that. This side gives more cover and there are a number more Survivors that are showing up.

The fog in the area makes it very hard to see the Survivors in the area. The good news is you have Listen mode. This helps a lot, especially with the first upgrade to it if not the second, to help Joel avoid being spotted by these folk. There is only 1 Survivor who is really in your way honestly. If you happen to have something to throw, now is the time to use if. Otherwise you need to slip up behind them, take them out and then deal with the rest of the Survivors.

However that plays out, go down the alley you just ahead on the right. Go to the left just after you pass the burning barrel. This lets you get into a storage room. Joel immediately grabs Ellie's Backpack. After that, turn to the right and grab the Artifact that is sitting on the shelf by you: “Meat Ledger”. Now find the black plastic hanging over the next doorway and go on through it. From there just head over to the left and open the door. Joel sees the Steak house burning.

The scene change to Ellie waking up in the burning steak house. Crawl forward toward the machete that she notices in front of her. After David interrupts then move forward again. Finally, hit triangle when prompted to finish him off. Joel and Ellie are reunited at last and they leave the area together.
