It is always very exciting when World of Warcraft announces a new expansion: will there be a new class? a new race? what will be the level cap? Well, those questions are now answered, so read on if you want to know more about the "Warlords of Draenor".
Logo of the expansion (fair use, review)
This is a surprise. The two latest expansions were only increasing characters levels by 5 (80-85, 85-90), so many were only expecting to level up to 95 in this expansion.
No new class and no new race BUT every race will be updated with a better finition. Characters will typically have separate fingers instead of just a hand, etc...
This is a very good thing as this game was getting a bit... outdated.
Just a few words about the story line: Garrosh Hellscream is made prisoner at the end of this expansion (you know, because of the Siege of Orgrimmar) but manages to escape and doesn't find a better place to go than... the past. And this is where we are all going to go.
For the fans of the Warcraft universe, this is great as we will encounter some famous names from the past.
Also, a nice thing is that the world where all this will take place (called Draenor, hence the name of the expansion) is basically the Outlands, before this continent was shattered. I personally really liked the Outlands so I am really excited to see it back and quite curious to see the new version of it... sorry, I meant the old version of it.
Wow players have been asking for it for years, Blizzard is finally doing it. Players will have a their home, called a garrison.
To build it players will have to attract followers (NPCs) by upgrading their inn, questing or by paying them (gold). The interesting thing is that there will be some dynamic mechanism where a follower of yours may be made prisoner inside a dungeon and you may have to go there to rescue him. Neat, isn't it?
Another interesting feature of this expansion is that players will be allow to upgrade a character to level 90.
This means that if you missed some previous expansions, you won't need to level up all the way to enjoy the new content.
And this could also be used if you want to try another class but haven't had the time for a reroll.
On the other hand, this means that if you go in a dungeon, you may play with someone who has no clue about how to play his character. But, well, isn't this already the case today?
This is of course THE big question: when will Warlords of Draenor be released? The usual answers in the forum aren't helpful ("soon" / "when it is ready" / ...) but, on the other hand, it isn't easy to answer it, since very few people know it and this is the kind of information that does not leak so easily.
Pretty confidently, I can say it will be out in 2014 but other than that... If you want to suggest a date, don't hesitate to do so in the comment section!
Until then, have fun against Garrosh :)
