Championship Manager 01/02 has a variety of team formations to select from. Be it the 4 - 4 - 2, 4 – 2, 4 – 5 – 1, 4 – 2 – 4, or 4 – 3 – 3 there are plenty of standard formations included. Anyone of these formations can also be further modified if required. These are few effective team formations that you can win trophies with.
3 – 5 – 2:

The 3 – 5 – 2 formation is one that has a couple of variations in Championship Manager 01/02. The best variation is attacking 3 – 5 – 2 that includes a midfield player that plays further forward, just behind the main forwards. This is an ideal playmaker position, and if the AM also has a free role they can score lots of goals for your side, alongside the two main forward players.
The formation includes two wingers on the left and right side of midfield. Make sure that they are crossing the ball in from the flanks. In addition to this, they should also run with the ball as well.
There are three center-backs, and no full-backs. Two of the center-backs will man mark players. Without any full-backs your teams might concede quite a few goals, but they will also score many more goals than they concede. As such, this can be a very effective formation with some great center-backs and playmaker.
3 – 4 – 3:

This formation is actually more like a 3 – 5 – 2 as it includes five midfield players. The supposed third forward is in fact an AM that plays just behind the main forwards. In much the same was as the previous formation, the AM can be your team's playmaker and also have a free role so that they can switch positions.
In the midfield there is also a DM slot for a defense midfield player. They play a little further back than the other midfield players in the center. The two wide midfield players also track back more as well, which provides the defenders with a little more cover.
This formation also has three center-backs. Two of the three center-backs should be set to man mark. With the extra cover they have your team will concede fewer goals, but will probably score fewer than with the 3 – 5 – 2 formation.
4 – 1 – 3 – 2:

This formation is one with a flat back four. There are two center-backs, and a couple of full-backs who play on the left and right side. Set the two center backs so that they man mark players, and tell your full-backs to cross the ball in.
The midfield includes four midfield players, all of which play in the center of midfield. As such, there are no wide midfield players. The formation includes a DM player that plays further back in the center of midfield, and should be set so as not to make forward runs. A further three midfield center players play a little further forward, especially when your team has the ball, and they can score quite a few goals for your team along with the two forward players.
With this formation your team can score lots of goals. A solid back four, along with a DM, can also ensure that fewer goals are conceded as well. As such, with a strong team you can win trophies with this formation.
They are three effective Championship Manager formations. Select one of these and your team could win some trophies, or alternatively get promoted if your team is in the lower leagues.
