Hello regular reader. I hope you're feeling flush. Please watch this video.
Join the VideoGamer Community Club
As I hope you already know, VideoGamer.com loves video games - but we love approaching them differently. During our time on this planet we've thrown Kinect out the window, sent a fictional Scottish man around E3, and dressed up to sing about Rambo: The Video Game.
We want to do even more of that, and even more things with you, and that's why we're launching the VideoGamer Community Club in conjunction with Patreon.
To do this, though, we need your help. We love making videos, offering the kind of funny, cutting and off-the-wall nuggets that you'd struggle to find anywhere else. But unless you’re named after a biscuit or a pie, it's really tough to grow or even sustain this content - our YouTube revenue doesn't even cover a single staff member's salary.
VideoGamer.com has been running for over 10 years and in that time we turned a hobbyist site into one of the top video game publications in the UK, employing numerous full-time staff and some of the industry's top talent. As you may know, the website and video content is largely funded by advertising from games companies, but over the last couple of years the marketing budgets have become less frequent, with the people in control of the money asking for more from us for less in return.
So with this in mind we're creating the VideoGamer Community Club. This will allow us to not only sustain the creation of our video content, but give more to all our viewers, as well as offering extra content to those who want to subscribe.
While we completely understand and appreciate there are Patreon campaigns that exist purely to help fund existing projects, we think that if you do lighten your wallet, you deserve to get something extra in return as well as the content you're already used to. We plan to treat the members of our club well.
But what do you get?
It all starts with more content, ranging from extra podcasts and videos to exclusive new happenings like VideoGamer Events, where you can attend a live podcast recording at a venue in London, hang out with us, have a few drinks and even get involved with the podcast yourself.
There will also be VideoGamer Community Club nights right here at VideoGamer HQ. You can play some games with the team, eat some food, and just enjoy an evening of entertainment.
It goes further still, with the chance to get your own personalised video messages, an exclusive, and limited, VideoGamer Community Club 'Swag Sack' (that will feature VideoGamer merchandise, apparel and a whole lot more), and even join us on a video should you fancy it.
We don't expect our fans to fund our videos entirely. But if the VideoGamer Community Club is a success it will allow us to give you extra and focus on making even more of the content you enjoy watching, reading and listening to.
If you believe all online content should be free then you'll still be able to continue to read and watch our stuff. But if you want a little more VideoGamer in your life, as mentioned above, then your support would be hugely appreciated.
To have you as part of our Community Club would be awesome.
If this sounds like something you could get behind, please head over to our Patreon page where you'll find a full list of pledge rewards and milestone promises.
So, how flush are you feeling?
