Now that we've covered the Datacrons on both Sith and empire-controlled worlds, let's expand our horizons a bit. We're gonna move on to independent and contested worlds. We'll start with something familiar. True fans will recognize all three of these worlds immediately.

Hoth

Faction: Contested

Number of Datacrons: 5

Other Notes:  The majority of the Datacrons on Hoth will require you to travel to the Star of Coruscant in the Starship Graveyard.

Orange Datacron

Reward: Cunning +4, Galactic History 63: The Terentatek Hunt

Coordinates: 3144, 475

Directions: To locate Datacron 63, find the Star of Coruscant in the southeast corner of the Starship Graveyard located at 2882, 448. Enter through , and take the elevator to the second floor. Once there, turn left, and start climbing up the crates on the left side of the room using the forklift to get started. Your goal is a small ledge that's connected to a wall on your right. Once there, go around the corner and jump down onto a large crate. Here, you'll want to wait for a moving crate to arrive, and jump onto it. Ride it, then jump off onto the crate that's moving up and down in front of the Datacron.

Green Datacron

Reward: Endurance +4, Galactic History 64: The Kanz Disorders

Coordinates: 2837, -375

Directions: This one's a bit complicated. Like the previous Datacron, this one's also located in the Starship Graveyard, very close to the Star of Coruscant.  You'll want to start near the Jedi Encampment Heroic Area, at 2610, -848, and start climbing up the nearby ice blocks. Once you reach the top arch, go over it and jump down to a ledge just below you. Next, work your way along the ledge, towards the edge of the massive, downed starship. Once you reach it, jump down, and keep following the ledge- you're going to have to switch between the starship and the ice ledge a few times, but eventually, you'll reach a dead end, where your path is completely blocked. Climb the ice in front of you to reach the next level of the starship. You should eventually come to some ‘snow steps,' at the top of which rests the Datacron.

Yellow Datacron

Reward: Presence +4, Galactic History 65: An Exile on Rhen Var

Coordinates: 1039, -1243

Directions: Go to the Glacial Fissure, then enter one of the caves there (at 1049, -1035).  Go through the cave, turn left, and go up the incline. Once you reach 1205, -977, jump up onto an ice ledge, and follow it left. Once you reach 1143, -1075, jump down from the ledge, go up the incline a bit and then turn to the right- there'll  be a passage leading to another cave, within which is Datacron 65.

White Datacron

Reward: Red Matrix Shard, Galactic History 66: The Jedi Covenant

Coordinates: -1738, 705

Directions: Before you can access this datacron, you'll need to purchase a Hydro-Thinner from the Aurek base Cantina Vendor (it's the first base you land in when you arrive on Hoth, the vendor's located at 3533, -1382). Once you have the thinner (it costs 18,000 credits), go to the entrance to Highmount Bluff. Go a little to the left, and use the Hydro-Thinner on the Datacron, which should be frozen in the ice next to a large rock spike.

Red Datacron

Reward: Strength +4, Galactic History 67: Mandalore The Ultimate

Coordinates: -4102, 115 (Ancient Probe), 2991, -94 (Coupled Recharge station)

Directions: This one's probably the hardest Datacron on the planet to get- and might well be among the most difficult in the game. First, you're going to have to locate the Ancient Probe wandering around the western area of Clabburn Tundra. Bring friends, because it's a level 47 elite- if you try to solo it, you're probably going to die. When the probe dies, it'll drop a "Depleted Datacron." You'll need to take this item to-surprise, surprise- the Star of Coruscant! Go to the north entrance of the ship, and use the Coupled Recharge Station to power up the final Datacron on Hoth.  (you might need to climb some pipes to reach it).

Tatooine

Faction: Contested

Number of Datacrons: 6

Other Notes: Two of the Datacrons on Tatooine are faction-specific. One is Empire-only, the other is Republic- only.

Blue-White Datacron

Reward: Aim +3, Galactic History 38: The Tyrant of Onderon

Coordinates: -628, -30

Directions: Probably the easiest Datacron on Tatooine to obtain- particularly if you're an Imperial. Starting at Mos Anek, travel north to Jundland. You should eventually come across a large sand ramp west of Mos Anek, at -264, 102. Once you arrive at the transport ship crash site, just follow the western edge until you see a cliff with part of a broken ship jutting from it. Drop down from ledge to ledge, and you'll eventually reach the Datacron.

Orange Datacron (REPUBLIC ONLY)

Reward: Cunning +3, Galactic History 39: The Third Great Schism

Coordinates: 2139, -3673

Directions: Go to the northwest edge of Anchorhead, and look for a sand dune near the top of the wall. Use it to scale the wall, then follow it all the way across-eventually, it'll lead you to some rooftops. Start heading north, jumping from rooftop to rooftop, until you reach an awning. Cross the awning, then use one of the cables that's holding it to get across to another rooftop. Make good use of the outer wall during this section.  Eventually, you should reach a domed building, overlooking the cantina. Circle around the dome while looking down, and you should eventually spot the Datacron- jump down to collect it.

Orange Datacron (EMPIRE ONLY)

Reward: Cunning +3, Galactic History 39: The Third Great Schism

Coordinates: 726, 3137

Directions: The Imperials have a much easier time of it than the Republic. Starting at 444, 3091, climb up some rocks, and use them to jump over the top of a post that's holding up a tent. Run across the tent to reach the rooftops, then jump down and run across a wall- you should eventually pass over a main roadway. At the end of the wall, jump onto a domed structure. To the right of this structure, you'll notice a large exhaust vent sticking out- jump onto it, then jump from here over to a nearby beam. From this beam, jump to a pipe sticking out of a bridge support tower. Run across the bridge, then jump to another pipe on the opposite support, then from here onto the rooftops. Finally, run across to the bank, and jump down to the Datacron.

White Datacron

Reward: Blue Matrix Shard, Galactic History 40: Czerka Discovers Kashykk

Coordinates: -2931, -1381

Directions: This one's going to be a pain. Deep in the Dune Sea, there's a balloon that circles between two sandcrawlers.  It takes somewhere around forty minutes to complete a full circuit. You see where this is going, right? Start at a Sandcrawler to the Southwest of the Dune Sea. Wait for the balloon, then jump on top of it. Once you're on, drop from the balloon onto the second sandcrawler.  Make your jump a good one, because if you miss, you get to play the waiting game again.  Datacron 40 will be right on the roof of the Sandcrawler. Don't jump off yet; there's another Datacron very close-by.

Red Datacron

Reward: Strength +3, Galactic History 41: The Droid Rights Movement

Coordinates: -2391, -1381

Directions: Although this Datacron's located only a few feet away from the other, it's also one of the most frustrating Datacrons on Tatooine. You're going to need to very carefully jump down onto a ledge situated near 2391, -1381. Make sure to jump, because if you edge off, you're going to miss and fall. Once you're on the ledge, it's pretty much smooth sailing to Datacron 41.

Purple Datacron

Reward: Willpower +3, Galactic History 42: The Nevoota Extinction

Coordinates: 2115, -596

Directions: If you don't have a speeder, get ready to kill some sand people. First things first, cross the bridge into the Eastern Wound, and follow the ridge to the Southwest. Keep your eyes peeled, and eventually you'll see a small rock formation and a flag, located near 2047, -400. Jump down-you'll take some falling damage- and head into the cave. If you have a speeder, you'll be able to skip most of the sand people. If not, you'll have to fight your way to Tatooine's last datacron, which is located at the end of the cave.

Alderaan

Faction: Contested

Number of Datacrons: 5

Other Notes:

Blue-White Datacron

Reward: Aim +4, Galactic History 43: The Great Droid Revolution

Coordinates: 1107, 80

Directions: Located in the Juran Mountains, this Datacron is inaccessible from the ground. In order to obtain it, you'll need to travel over a bridge to 1241, -106 (The "First Do Harm" group quest area). Toward the southern tip, you'll find a damaged lift leading to the Datacron. Use the lift, and grab your bonus to aim.  It's also possible to get this Datacron from the ground, but it's honestly a lot less trouble to just use the lift.

Green Datacron

Reward: Endurance +3, Galactic History 44: The Jedi Nomi

Coordinates: 2721, 2496

Directions: In order to obtain this Datacron, you'll first need to buy a Red Detonite Actuator for 2000 credits at a vendor to the south of Tarlarn Outpost (located at 1869, 1091). Once you've got the detonator in hand, you'll need to go through a group area to a cave located at 2373, 2449. The Datacron will be behind a cave wall, with a flashing red light nearby. Use the detonator, and boom- Datacron.

Orange Datacron

Reward: Presence +3, Galactic History 45: The Krath Cult

Coordinates: -82, -268

Directions: Find the "Saddled Thranta" at -415, -209. The Datacron's on top of a pillar at the above co-ordinates. Ride the Thranta up to it.

Red Datacron

Reward: Strength +4, Galactic History 46: Nadd's Legacy

Coordinates: 2190, -2019

Directions: How you get this Datacron hinges entirely on how good you are at platforming. If you're not one hundred percent confident in your jumping abilities, just buy the item- a Magnetically Guided Grappling System for 10,000 credits, from a vendor located at 1867, 1088 (The one South of the Tarlarn Outpost- he's going to make a lot of business from you in your hunt for the Datacrons). If you bought the grappling system, this one's easy- just hook onto the Magnetic stabilizer, and zipline your way over.  If you don't want to burn 10k credits, approach the dam from the right hand side and jump on the two intersecting rocks. You can then mount and make the jump to the dam, where there's a ladder you can use to get to the Datacron.

Purple Datacron

Reward: Willpower +3, Galactic History 47: Naddist Rebels

Coordinates: -2508, -427

Directions: In the Glarus Valley, enter Castle Panteer (-2317, -417). In the southwest corner of the main room, there'll be a broken door with a gap that you can squeeze through. Go up the stairs beyond the door, and follow the balcony they lead to straight to the right. There'll be a Datacron resting by a fallen statue. Note that if you're a large-sized character, you're out of luck for this one.

Nar Shadda

Faction: Contested

Number of Datacrons: 8 (3 Empire, 3 Republic, 2 Universal)

Other Notes:

Galactic Republic

Blue-White Datacron

Reward: Aim+3, Galactic History 33: Dromund Kaas

Coordinates: -3363, -3316

Directions: This one's located in the Nikto sector, Look for a street lamp with a number of support cables attached to it. From there, go north and around the corner- you should see some crates stacked up, near a brown street canvas. Climb up onto that canvas, then go up the support cables, and cross a nearby pipe.  Next, jump up the pipes then onto a sign to get on top of the buildings. Finally, from the building beyond the sign, jump down onto more support cables, and walk carefully across to the Datacron.

Yellow Datacron

Reward: Presence +3, Galactic History 35: The Gank Massacres

Coordinates: 3338, -3287

Directions: In the Gauntlet Gang area in the Red Light Sector. You'll need to take an elevator in the transit hub corridor (take your first left) to get up here. Once you're in the area, go right, then turn left towards the area with a bunch of green street signs. From here, go up the double ramps, then turn right immediately after. There should be a pile of garbage nearby- jump on the crates near that garbage to get on top of a section of canvas, then walk up that canvas to an elevator that leads to the Red Light Sector Catwalks. From here, it's a cakewalk- just move towards the Datacron.

Red Datacron

Reward: Strength +3, Galactic History 37: Freedon Nadd

Coordinates: 2156, 3103

Directions: Are you good at platforming? You'd best hope so, or you'll be pulling out your hair trying to get this one. First, go to 2301, 3076, and turn right as soon as you can. Follow the walkway, then turn left. From here, jump onto some nearby metal boxes, and climb up onto the pipes above. Follow these pipes to the right- when you see a small brown pipe coming up on your right side, jump onto it, then onto a small light ahead of it. Once you're on the small light, jump onto a larger, rectangular light, then from that light onto another pipe walkway. Follow the pipe here down, then drop down to your left. Finally, go straight until you reach a yellow control panel, then jump to the ledge right in front of you. Go around the corner, and follow the path there until you get to the elevator. Once you're in the elevator, click the (Access Tunnels) Option to find the hallway where your Datacron awaits. Gah.

Sith Empire

Blue-White Datacron

Reward: Aim+3, Galactic History 33: Dromund Kaas

Coordinates: -3699, -1692

Directions: In Krayt Gang Territory of the Corellian Sector, climb up top of an overhang by using the weapons cache at -3788, -1693. Once you're on top of the overhang, wait for a slow, hoving kiosk to pass by. Jump onto it, and it'll ferry you straight to the Datacron.

Yellow Datacron

Reward: Presence +3, Galactic History 35: The Gank Massacres

Coordinates: 3338, -3287

Directions: Enter the Duras Sector Slums at 1645, -2648. Directly to your left, you'll notice a huge stack of boxes. Climb them. You'll be on a catwalk. Follow it. Eventually, you'll see three beams. Jump to the third. From the third, you'll see a platform. Walk towards it. Next to the platform, there'll be a canvas awning. Cross it. You'll find yourself on another platform.  There'll be an elevator nearby. Use it. Finally, you'll be in the Residential Catwalks, and you'll see your Datacron there. Take it.

Red Datacron

Reward: Strength +3, Galactic History 37: Freedon Nadd

Coordinates: 2017, 2441

Directions: Compared to the red Republic Datacron, this one's a piece of cake. From the Network Access Taxi Station, wander over to 1948, -1567. Jump down between the pipes; then jump down again to a nearby balcony. Ride the unmanned taxi by the balcony straight to the Datacron.

Universal Datacrons

Orange Datacron

Reward: Cunning +3, Galactic History 34: The Discovry of Ryll

Coordinates: 1958, 3288

Directions: You are not going to have fun with this one. It's located in the High Security Lockdown Sector (you're probably going to need to do a few quests and objectives to gain access to the area in the first place), and even then you'll need to pick out a correct code out of seven. Choose 326: 2827 (the second option on the list)- hey, it's a reference to A New Hope! That's the unit number of the maintenance hatch in the Death Star's garbage room…*ahem.* Anyway, don't leave once you collect the Datacron. Instead, activate the Old Prize Machine to receive the "Slot Decoder"- trust me, you'll need it.

White Datacron

Reward: Yellow Matrix Shard, Galactic History 36: The Quarren-Mon-Calamari War

Coordinates: 1781, 3084

Directions: Guess what? If you didn't get the Item Decoder, you're out of luck on this one. From the High Security Sector's Incinerator room, go to the Upper Industrial Sector and head down to the Republic Research Division. Take the elevator here down to the Network Security District. There'll be a slot machine. Use the Slot Decoder to open it and acquire Nar Shadda's final (universal) Datacron.
