So, have you found all the Datacrons yet? You have? Even the end-game items? Not bad, not bad at all. Hey, you missed one.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to introduce the Rare Datacron. This pretty little piece will grant you +10 to all stats. In other words, it's kind of a big deal, and you're gonna want to seek it out no matter what class you're playing. After all…+10 is nothing to sneeze at.

There are two in the game, one for each faction. This will be a little more difficult than seeking out your regular, run of the mill Datacrons. These aren't just sweet little bonuses you pick up while you happen to be questing in the area; seeking out one of these is a quest in and of itself.

Though the basic steps to acquire each Datacron vary, the key requirements are identical regardless of what faction you happen to be playing. You'll need to:

  • Be level 50. Don't even think about starting this mission unless you're max level.
  • Own an MGGS. You can buy one at 1885, 204 on Alderaan, for 10,000 creds.
  • Have three friends with you. That's right- to get either of the two Rare Datacrons, you'll need almost a full party. Don't worry too much about it, though- it shouldn't be that hard to convince a few friends to lend you a hand. Just mention what you're trying to obtain.

We'll start with the Sith.

The Sith Empire

Location: The Ziost Shadow (The Imperial Fleet)

Codex Entry: None

Requirements: Level 50, MGGS, Party of at least four.

Other Notes: N/A

Step 1: Gather your team. You'll need to have at least three other players tagging along for this one, and at least one of them needs to be level 50. Everyone else should be no lower than 45.

Step 2: If you've already acquired a Magnetically Guided Grapping System from Alderaan (if you've been following the Datacron guide, you should already have one), you can skip ahead to step three.

Otherwise, stop by the Juran Mountains. Just south of Outpost Talarn, you'll find a vendor (1885, 204). Pay him 10,000 credits to get one. Make sure all of your party members have one, as well.

Step 3: To Corellia we go. Go to Axial Park, south of Coronet Zoo, and find the co-ordinates 684, 34. You should see an open shipping crate nearby. Inside, you'll find a red crystal, near a large, reptilian skull. Pick it up- you'll need it later. While lower level players –can- harvest this crystal, I wouldn't recommend it, as you need to be level 50 to acquire later crystals in the chain.

Step 4: Next stop: The Imperial Fleet. The Datacron you want is located inside the Ziost Shadow. Head on in, then go to the Bridge deck. Towards the northern corner of the area, you'll find a small, circular elevator (located at 1301, -711).  Take it up to the Museum- within, you'll find your Datacron.

Step 5: See that Republic Medical Walker towards the center of the museum? You need to get inside. You can do this one of two ways:

  1. If you're feeling particularly Cheesetastic, have the player who's carrying the red crystal kill themselves. Look for the gun and target exhibit, and press the button behind the target. Press it, and “boom, headshot.” Choose to respawn in the Medical Center, and you'll find yourself on a ledge near the transport.
  2. Alternatively, you can simply jump on the notice board on one side of the walker, and use that board to climb up to the platform on which the machine rests.

Whichever option you choose, once you're up there, you just need to activate the console within the cockpit - it'll open a door directly in front of the walker.

Step 6: Jump down from the walker, and make your way through the door you just opened. Follow the wall left down the hall, until your group reaches an exhibit that features a large blue crystal. Have one of your party members activate it to receive a Cormium Crystal Shard- preferably, the one who's also carrying the red crystal. They'll have to be level 50.

Step 7: Once you've acquired your shard, return to the main showroom, where the medical walker is housed. Directly across from it, you'll see a large dais which houses a statue. Use the crates nearby to climb around to the back, and place the red crystal into a slot in the statue's back. You should see a nearby panel start sparking- activate it to lower the force-field to the Maintenance tunnels, which should be on your right. Head on through.

Step 8: Head through the now-accessible door, and down the passage. You'll find yourself at a forcefield bridge, which'll be on your left. Here's where it starts to get tricky. Leave a player at the bridge, and have three others continue down the hall. They'll arrive in a control room, which contains three consoles. Activate all three, simultaneously. The bridge will be passable, but not for very long- the player at the bridge will need to make a mad dash across, at which point they'll arrive at another control room.

Step 9: The player who crossed should take up a position at the center console, while another of the group waits at the bridge. Think of the two control rooms as mirror images of one another- three consoles have to be activated at once, and they all need to be different- if the player across the bridge activates their center console, the other players need to activate their left and right consoles. With this in mind, have one player take up a position on the other side of the bridge, and then activate the bridge. Repeat this process until everyone's gotten across.

Step 10: Now for the hard part. In the next room, there are four buttons that you'll need to press simultaneously. The first two buttons are along a set of black girders, just down the path from the second control room. Two players should go all the way to the end of the bridge, then jump down onto the black railing along the left hand side, and follow it to the end. One of the players should then jump down and to the left hand side, and the other will need to look to the right to find a Grappling Panel  that'll take them to button two.

Step 11: Now, it's time to find the other two buttons.

First, you're going to want to have a third person jump down onto the railing, once you've got two players in position at the two buttons. This person will need to turn right immediately after jumping onto the black railing, and jump down to another girder some distance below. Once on this girder, follow it until you reach a large black box. Look up, and you should spot the panel that'll take you to the next button.

The last of your group should stand at the red central console that overlooks the bridge, and look directly up. Once both players are in position, have the first two players press their buttons simultaneously- the two panels will activate, and the second set of players can grapple up to them. Once there, have everyone activate their buttons in tandem.

Step 12: That's the most difficult segment out of the way. Have everybody type in /stuck, and you'll all wind up back in the control room. Jump back down onto the girders, and follow it for a few feet. Look to your left- there, against a large, glowing purple tower (It looks to be a server of some kind), you'll notice that a new stabilizer point has been activated. Grapple up to it, and you'll find yourselves standing on a narrow ledge.

Step 13: From this ledge, you'll see two more stabilizer points. The one to your left is inactive, but the one to your right can be grappled to- have one player grapple over and hit the nearby switch. This'll activate the last stabilizer.

Step 14: Grapple across to the door, and walk in to be treated with a cut-scene and, at long last, your well-earned Datacron. Enjoy the hefty stat boost!

The Galactic Republic

Location: The Gav Daragon (The Republic Fleet)

Codex Entry: None

Requirements: Level 50, MGGS, Party of at least four.

Other Notes: Word is, the process for acquiring this Datacron is currently bugged. It might take a bit longer than the Empire's Rare Datacron.  Other than this caveat, it's very similar to the Imperial process- many of the steps are nearly identical.

Step 1: You'll need to have at least three other players tagging along for this one, same as the Imperial scum. Again, at least one of them needs to be level 50.

Step 3: Onward to Corellia! Same deal for the Republic as for the Empire. Go to Axial Park, south of Coronet Zoo, and find the co-ordinates 684, 34. You should see an open shipping crate nearby. Inside, you'll find a red crystal, near a large, reptilian skeleton. Pick it up- you'll need it later. While lower level players –can- harvest this crystal, I wouldn't recommend it, as you need to be level 50 to acquire later crystals in the chain.

Note: Given how glitched this chain is at the time of writing, I'd recommend that you make sure every member of your party has a red crystal on hand.

Step 4: To the Republic Fleet we go! Your destination is the ship Gav Daragon. To get there, head to the “Mission Departures” elevator on the Flagship, and select the “Interfleet Transport” option. Take a taxi to the “Gav Daragon,” then take the only elevator you can see up to the bridge. Swing right, and you'll see a small, circular elevator that'll take you up to the Daragon's Museum.

Step 5: Same deal as with the Imperial Datacron. You need to get inside the walker housed within the central room of the museum. Just use the notice board to jump up, and activate the console within to open the door that leads to the blue crystal.

Step 6: Make your way into the hallway that's now accessible, and follow it until you reach a large blue crystal. Have one of your party members activate it to receive a Cormium Crystal Shard- preferably, the one who's also carrying the red crystal. They'll have to be level 50.

Step 7: Once you've acquired your shard, return to the main showroom. There's a statue across from it. Use the crates just behind the platform to climb around to the back, and place the red crystal into the slot. You should see a nearby panel start sparking- activate it to lower the force-field to the Maintenance tunnels, which should be on your right. Enter them.

Step 8: Head through the now-accessible door, and down the passage. You'll find yourself at a forcefield bridge, which'll be on your left. Again, this is essentially identical to the Imperial Datacron.  Leave a player at the bridge, and have three others continue down the hall. They'll arrive in a control room, which contains three consoles. Activate all three, simultaneously. The bridge will be passable, but not for very long - the player at the bridge will need to make a mad dash across, at which point they'll arrive at another control room.

Step 10: As if this section wasn't difficult enough already, it's evidently bugged right to hell. There's a very good chance you're going to have to retry this several times. You're going to want to go to the end of the bridge, and jump down to the railing below. The first two buttons are positioned virtually identically to those on the Ziost Shadow. Two players should go onto the railing, one should jump down and to the left at the end, and the other should grab the grappling panel to the right. It's possible to jump down, but you'll take some hefty falling damage…and there's a chance you might glitch out a bit.

Step 11: Now, it's time to find the other two buttons. And here's where the game supposedly borks itself. For the first of the two buttons, jump down onto the railing, then jump down again and to the right, follow the girder, turn the corner, and look up to find a grappling panel, near a few rectangular boxes that faintly resemble computer consoles.

The second button is where you might end up pulling out your hair. Stand at the central console overlooking the bridge, and look straight up. Once the first two activate their buttons in tandem, the third player should have no trouble getting to the grapple point, but the fourth, well… you'll ricochet off the wall. Also, you need to press all three of the other buttons simultaneously to access it. You can either keep trying until you get it right, or bring along someone with a move that they can activate right before they hit the wall to stop themselves. Have everyone activate their buttons simultaneously, then move to step 12.

Step 12: Frustrated yet? Don't worry - you're almost done. Have everybody type /stuck. As on the Imperial ship, there's a pillar towards the center of the room. Jump down onto the girders, and look up towards it- there'll be a grappling panel there. Go up to it. You'll be standing on a small platform.

Step 13: From this ledge, you'll see two more grapple points. The one to your left is inactive, but the one to your right can be grappled to- have one player grapple over and hit the nearby switch. This'll activate the last stabilizer.

Step 14: Grapple across to the door, and take your well-earned reward, thanking the stars that you never have to do this again…until you make another Republic character.
