The latest Oddworld game, a reimagining of one of the original Playstation games, is a fun adventure. The new version has great new graphics and some enhanced gameplay options. If you've never played Oddworld before, getting into Oddworld: Abe's Odyssee: New 'n' Tasty might take some getting used to. Luckily, we've compiled a list of a few tips you should keep in mind when you are playing this quirky game. Ready to get started? Let's go!
Rescuing Mudokons will restore health, but they can be few and far between. Plus, after you leave for Paramonia and Scrabania, they don't always restore health. If you are low on health, look for birds in the area, sitting around on branches and objects. To have them restore some of your health, chant for them!
Are sligs blocking your path? Are there chant suppressors around? Try chanting to make the sligs panic and get distracted so that you can run past them instead. This way, the chant suppressors shouldn't kill you. Make sure you are far enough away so that the sligs can't shoot you for afar and kill you. Also, be aware that you may get zapped!
The quicksave option is your friend. If you find yourself in a sticky situation or if you worried you might die in an upcoming battle, quicksave! That way you won't need to go all the way back to the last checkpoint. You can also quicksave right after you do something tricky, so that way you won't have to redo that part of the game.
If you currently possess a slig, you just need to shoot another slig once to kill it! If you hold down the 'fire' button, you'll shoot them repeatedly. Be sure to avoid shooting any friendly Mudokons in the area! Also, watch out for the exploding slig.
You can throw rocks and grenades throughout the game, but you'll have a limited supply of these items. Luckily, if you need to lure an enemy away or distract them, Abe has an unlimited supply of bottlecaps! This is handy information to have from the start. You can also use these bottlecaps in order to kill bats throughout the game.
