We’re only a little over two weeks away from the headstart to The Elder Scrolls Online. That means we have just one beta weekend remaining. Earlier in the week when it was announced this would be a beta weekend I was ecstatic! But then came the crushing blow that it would be the last time we can jump in before headstart, devastated! While I’m sure everyone will be taking part in the beta if they can. (If you need a key for it you can grab one here.) What is there to do after the servers go down on Monday? I’ve put together just a few things we can do that will hold us over until we can feed our addiction again.
What did the world do before the wiki was invented? These days you can find wikis on just about everything. The Elder Scrolls has two prominent wikis that die hard fans use.
The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages (UESP): The people behind UESP have been collecting and collaborating since 1995. Of course it has only been a wiki since 2005 but the UESP site has been going for 19 years now. This is a great place to learn all about the previous lore and games. But, there have been quite a few changes to things for ESO to work so if you are using UESP as a resource make sure it still applies.
The Elder Scrolls Wiki: This wiki is set up on Wikia and seems to be the best place to get information that is up to date for The Elder Scrolls Online. It also has information about previous games as well though is nowhere near as extensive as the previously mentioned wiki. Unfortunately this wiki is also filled with a lot of content that isn’t given a source, much of which at various stages was still under NDA.
Ok, I’ll admit it. I am addicted to The Elder Scrolls Online. I’ve already been filling my time with making builds and creating bios for all my characters (I’m planning 6). So I’ve been researching the best tools out there to make builds. Quite a lot of them have popped up recently but here are some of the best.
TESO Tools: This site appears to be pretty complete. It has a clean and easy to use design. Unfortunately because it displays your tray at the bottom of the screen at all times it feels a little bit crowded. But the images and responsive design earn it a spot in this list.
ESO Head: Going with the theme and feel of The Elder Scrolls Online ESO Head has a simple to use build calculator. But it also seems to have a feature or two which really do nothing. Though it is easy on the eyes this calculator isn’t one I would use myself.
Massyx: My previous favorite of them all and the one I made all my current builds on Massyx seems to be the most up to date with information. It is very simple to use. Unfortunately, it lacks the pretty images that everyone craves. Massyx does make up for that though with having space for 2 PvE and 2 PvP builds all in one.
ESO Calc: I may have a new favorite. ESO Calc is clean, easy to use and takes account of attributes, something no other calculator has done so far. Not only that but it also will allow you to account for how many of each type of armor you’re wearing. Now, I haven’t had much time to play around with this one as I just now discovered it but it looks complete and awesome.
If you’re a roleplayer and you plan to get involved in rp in The Elder Scrolls Online TESO RP is a must! It has guilds recruiting, a place to ask lore questions, a chat room full of the nicest people, and so much more. If you look hard enough you might even find me there! Not only is it a fantastic tool to use now it will be invaluable later on with organizing in character events and continued recruitment for guilds.
As ever Reddit is an amazing way to keep yourself distracted from the woes of not being able to log in. You could easily spend the entire 2 weeks just reading Reddit. There are lists with tons of reviews from all stages of beta, reference tools, and discussions on just about anything you could possibly want to talk about.
Perhaps one of the best fan sites out there for The Elder Scrolls Online, Tamriel Foundry has a little bit of everything. With regular article posts, a little bit of information about the game, and very active forums this is a fantastic place for people who aren’t looking for anything specific.
