Tyria Then and Now: Maguuma Jungle Part 2 .

Tyria has been through a great deal over the 250 years since the days of the first Guild Wars game. The landscape has greatly changed, and that isn´t just because of the massive jump in graphics technology. Since the days of Guild Wars, Charr have reclaimed Ascalon as their own, Kralkatorrik has created the Brand, and most recently Scarlet Briar has devastated Lion´s Arch and many more locations around Tyria after Mordremoth woke.

While waiting for Heart of Thorns to drop, I decided to take a short tour of Tyria to document the changes that have happened between the two games. ArenaNet has done a fantastic job off showing of old ruins and statues that once stood tall, with iconic places from Guild Wars now nothing but a pile of ruins in Guild Wars 2. The time has now come to revisit the Maguuma Jungle which is now open thanks to Guild Wars 2 expansion Heart of Thorns. In this second part of the Maguuma Jungle, we will take a look at grand places that exist below their usually dry spots 250 years ago.

Bloodstone

250 years later, we now have the chance to go deeper below in the Bloodstone. What was once part jungle, part dry land on the top, now underneath holds a huge underground city in ruins that is now accessible.

The Falls overview

The gorgeous but deadly deep parts of the Maguuma Jungle still hold its vast vegetation and green hills. While it is the greenest part of Tyria, it is also one of the most deadly parts.

Ventari’s Refuge

The old outpost that had the same name as its peaceable centaur inhabitants has disappeared with time. But right below the tree which gave shelter, we still find the running water that kept the tree alive.

The Falls

One of the most beautiful places you could rest your eyes on over 250 years ago still holds all of its majestic beauty today. Even if the area is still as hostile as before, the lucky traveller may find a few minutes to enjoy the view.

Temple of Balthazar

The great temple of worship in the deep depths of the Maguuma Jungle can still be found today where its ruins have managed to remain standing through time. Even if the worshippers no longer flock here, it is still a place of power.

Reed Bog Overview

A place where the dry parts of the jungle at the top meet the deep green jungle, and over time it has fallen down deeper. It is now a safe place for the adventurous, hidden among great trees and big mountains.
