Rift: The Secret behind REX

Rift

Rift

With Rift’s new free-to-play business model right around the corner, many players have eagerly been waiting to hear more about the game’s brand new exchange system called REX. Here is how it works:

The folks at Trion Worlds came up with REX because they wanted to give free players a chance to easily earn Rift store credits.

You will be able to purchase REX with real money (aka Dollars) in the new Rift Store. However, you have to have somehow proven in the past that you’re a real player. Accordingly, publishers Trion Worlds want to make sure that you're not just a gold farmer or spammer.

REX is more than just an exchange currency; it’s also an item. You buy it in the store, and then decide what you would like to do with it. You can trade or sell it to other players in the game, or you can convert it into credits which you can use at the Rift Store.

This is how REX works in a nutshell.

Keep in mind, though, that it doesn’t make any sense to buy REX, only to turn it into credits yourself. If you’re interested in getting more credits, you might as well just purchase these in the Rift Store.

The price that REX is traded for in the game is entirely up to you. However, once it’s been turned into credits, it cannot be converted back.
