Agar.io: How to Succeed as a Small Cell

Agar.io

Agar.io

There’s no denying it: Agar.io is a phenomenon. Everybody is playing it. Everybody is discussing it! What seems like a straightforward game that requires no tactics, turns out to be quite the strategic masterpiece – in our opinions at least. Sure, you can just mindlessly play the title and hope that you’ll be lucky enough to succeed, but a few tips will certainly get you far along. If you are a total newbie and are looking for some general advice, clickety-click here! This trilogy of tips will help you in the various stages of your development as a cell. Each one requires a specific strategy.

Succeed as a Small Cell

When you begin Agar.io – and sometimes when you eat a virus – you float around the map as the smallest possible cell. Usually, this stage will not last quite too long, and you will soon find yourself as a mid-sized monad. In order to reach that size, you should stick to a few guidelines. Keep in mind that you have two benefits as a small cell that allow you to save yourself from bigger enemies. First of all, you are quicker than all other protozoons (a smart word for single-cell organisms, in case you were wondering). As soon as you see enemies, dash away from them – your speed should guarantee your successful flight.

Stay close to viruses - they are your friends at this stage in the game!

Your second advantage as a small cell is that you can seek shelter – and even hide – in viruses. Other players will usually move on once they see that you have escaped inside one of these spikey green circles. Make use of this advantage and try to stay in close range to at least one virus.

Search for Remote Areas

Of course, this is a difficult advice to give, as each round is random, but try to stay away from crowded areas. Seek lonelier spots and focus on eating the colorful food lying around. You will quickly change your size if you do so. Also keep in mind who your actual enemies are: they are usually not the behemoths who are in the top 10. Why? Well, would you be interested in the tiniest cells who you are unlikely to catch if you are that big? Splitting up for that would also make no sense for them. Your true enemies are smaller mid-sized cells, who are still likely to just randomly sweep over you, as they are not quite as slow as the big cells. Keep that in mind, and maybe even stay somewhat close to a giant.
