Plants vs. Zombies 2: Guide through Lvl 23 of The Lost City

Plants vs. Zombies 2

Plants vs. Zombies 2

Phew, this level is definitely up there with some of the stages of the Big Wave Beach. It might even be the most hectic level in Plants vs. Zombies 2. So, if you decide to delve into level 23 of The Lost City, make sure that you can really devote your entire attention to the game. We did like how challenging the stage was, but we are a little disappointed that it requires less planning and more of a “throw everything you got onto the battlefield or else you’re doomed” type of approach. There are a few tips however that will make your life a little easier.

You will basically face the entire cast of zombies of The Lost City. Regular, Conehead, Buckethead, Excavator, Parasol, Relic Hunter, and Bug Zombies are part of this level, as well as Imp Porters and Porter Gargantuar. Phew. There are definitely many different constellations of plants that will get you through this level one way or another. After various tries, we found this selection to be the most fruitful: Twin Sunflower, Guacodile, Red Stinger, A.K.E.E., Puff-Shrooms, Endurian, and Stallia.

You will meet these folks again...

First of all, you need to know that the first wave of zombies already brings the Porter Gargantuar. Luckily, there’s only one throughout the level. Begin the stage by planting Puff-Shrooms on sun-tiles. Every time it reloads, plant another. Basically, you never want to stand still in this level. Plant a Twin Sunflower as soon as you can – also on a sun-tile. From then on, we recommend positioning a plant whenever you can. We advise you to have five Twin Sunflowers in total. Use the Endurians to win some time to defeat the Relic Hunters – those pesky little creatures. Make sure to have a row of A.K.E.E.s if possible to defeat the Excavators. Use as many Guacodiles as possible to clear entire lanes of zombies.

This is what our set-up looked like towards the end of the level.

In order to defeat the Porter Gargantuar, use Stallias to slow it down and then as many Guacodiles as it takes. It should be defeated after three or four of them, depending on how much other firepower it is exposed to.

As you can see on our screenshot above, we weren’t really able to save many of our plants. We also lost one lawn mower to a Bug Zombie, but we did make it through this level of the tower defense game!
