Here at browsergamez.com we are aware that there are hoards of players who are just starting their new job as a Vault Overseer, and we thought it might be helpful to give you all a few pointers to help you on your way with stabilizing the inhabitants of your vault, and repopulating the wasteland.
It’s actually rather easy to build a functioning vault in Fallout Shelter, but that’s not what we’re after as dedicated Vault Overseers. We want to build the best, most efficient Vault possible. Read on for a few tips and tricks to help you on your way!
If you didn’t know already, you can combine three rooms of the same type to make them more efficient; all you have to do is place them next to each other and they will automatically merge. These large rooms are not only safer for your fragile dwellers, but also more efficient for resources. One large room with three merged rooms is more efficient than having three individual rooms. Furthermore, it is much easier for your dwellers to fight raiders and deal with fires in these larger rooms. For maximum efficiency, try to place your rooms to look something like this:
Despite there being a quest at the beginning that tells you to “sell one weapon or outfit,” it’s usually not a good idea to do so. A +3 lab coat might not seem vital at the start of the game, but it’s only worth 10 caps. It’s a much better idea to equip it on a dweller in an appropriate room and reap the benefits. The only item we would advise selling to complete this quest is the BB gun. This gun is so terrible it often does even less damage than just letting the dwellers use their fists.
Pregnant dwellers are great for increasing your population to help boost your resource collection, but they’re pretty terrible at dealing with enemies and fire. Make sure to have at least one non-pregnant dweller in each room to deal with that pesky radroach infestation or fire outbreak.
Although you receive CAPS from rushing rooms, and from dwellers exploring the wasteland, about 50% of your income will come from completing objectives. Make sure to complete them immediately if it’s possible, as this will boost your CAP number and let you expand even faster.
Okay, so this one feels a little like cheating, but it’s definitely worth a mention. When you start a new game you are given a number of quests that reward lunchboxes, and in these lunchboxes you have the chance to get rare or legendary items or characters. It can be advisable to keep starting new games until you get a lunch box with at least one or two rare or legendary characters. This will majorly help you when starting out, as you can send them into the wasteland to gather resources much faster than your average dweller can.
