Fallout Shelter: How to Make Your Dwellers Happy

Fallout Shelter

Fallout Shelter

When we first heard about Fallout Shelter, we thought that it would be a very straight forward building simulation, similar to games such as The Simpsons: Tapped Out. You assign a character to do something, wait, and then collect the rewards. Turns out that Bethesda Softworks’ mobile game is not quite as simple as that. Making the wrong moves and choices will result in mild catastrophes for your bunker. There are only four stats that you have to keep an eye on – Power, Food, Water, and Happiness. Sounds pretty easy, but it requires a lot of fine tuning to balance these four resources. Here’s our tips for making your dwellers happy!

Never Run Out of Water or Food

Sure, it sounds really straightforward, but you will need the right approach to always have enough water and food. Your dwellers’ happiness increases when they have enough food and water at their disposal. Water and food production relies on electricity. Make sure that you always have enough power. How can you influence your rooms’ efficiency? Follow this guide:

  • Upgrade your room – each upgrade costs more money, but it also allows you to yield more of the resource.
  • Attach another room of the same type to your room. Make sure that they are the same level so that they automatically combine into one big room. You can combine up to three rooms of the same type. This will thoroughly increase the yield.
  • The more people work in one room, the faster the resource is produced. Make sure that the dwellers’ stats are optimal for working in the respective room. Keep in mind that two people can work in a small room, four in a mid-sized room, and six in a big room!
  • Move some dwellers around depending on which resource is more desperately needed in your bunker.

Allow Your Dwellers to Socialize

Aside from that, we recommend that you allow your residents to socialize. Send one female and one male with at least 2 Charisma points into the residence and wait for them to bond. Not only will this lift their mood, but it will also result in your female dweller being pregnant and increasing your population.

The happiness increases immediately once two dwellers bond!

Plan Wisely

Always make sure to keep your statistics in check. Only start building new rooms when you have enough workers to spare. Keep in mind that it always makes sense to have one dweller explore the wastelands, as they are likely to find items, caps, and other nifty things outside.

Your number one goal for making your dwellers happier is making sure that your important resources are available for them. When your power runs out, your water and food supply rooms will shut down and stop production. Never allow that to happen.
