Get ready for derps, the virtual pet that nobody saw coming. My Derp lets you take care of said derp, but there’s just one problem… these guys don’t have any sense of self-preservation. The slightest error can make your derp meet an untimely end, so it’s up to you to keep the little bugger alive for as long as possible. We’ll help you take care of your derps with our My Derp cheats, tips and tricks strategy guide!
1. Collect coins whenever you have the chance!
The block above your derp’s head will switch from a coin to a skull every four seconds or so. Whenever you see a coin icon, tap the block to make your derp collect coins from the block. Keep an eye on the block – if it starts to shake, it’s about to switch! If your derp hits the block when there’s a skull, he’ll take some damage and his hunger and life will lower.
2. Watch out for fire!
One of the quickest ways your derp can die is due to fire. Whenever you see a tiny fireball in the corner of your derp’s room, be warned! Eventually the fire will spread to your derp and it will catch on fire. At this point, you have a couple of seconds before your derp dies. You have to buy a bucket of water with twelve coins to put it out. Be sure you have the coins on hand in case of emergency! Going off of that point…
3. Have an emergency fund!
You should always have at least ten coins on hand, at the very least. You will quickly realize that most of your derp deaths come from sudden events such as a disease or a disaster. Most conditions can be cured right away by buying the appropriate medicine or tool, like the fire and the water bucket. We have to stress that time is extremely important – remember that your derp can die very fast if left untreated! Alternatively, you can also buy items ahead of time. If you buy medicine or a tool that does not need to be used at the moment, it’ll sit around in your derp’s home, ready to go whenever.
4. Keep playing!
We’ll be straight with you – your derp is going to die. A lot. But don’t give up! Every time a derp dies in your hands the piggy bank meter at the end will fill up according to how long your derp survived. Once it fills up you will receive a piggy bank upgrade that starts your new games off with more coins than usual. Try to keep your derp alive as long as possible!
5. Choose your food wisely!
The cheapest food item you can buy are the eggs for three coins. A closer look reveals that the eggs are covered in suspicious goopy green spots. If that’s not indication enough, don’t feed it to your derp! Doing so will cause your derp to immediately become sick, requiring medicine to cure it. Instead, the onion is a good choice. It’s price is inbetween the cheeto and the can of beans, but it restores a nice amount of hunger to your derp.
Hopefully with our guide you should be able to prolong your derps’ lives for much longer. If you have any other tips or tricks to share with us, leave a comment below!
