Pocket Troops is a cute and charming war game, as unlikely as that sounds, and your task is to recruit and train troops before unleashing them into battle.
Not quite sure where to begin? Our handy guide will get you started.
Safety in numbers
Pocket Troops is a little tough early on and you’ll lose almost as many battles as you win. You know why? Because you haven’t got many troops on your side.
Early on, focus all your money on recruiting as many troops as possible. Sure, having one powerful soldier might seem like the best approach, but quantity outshines quality in the early game.
Focus your attacks
Use those troops to pick on individual targets. A weakened enemy soldier hits just as hard as a full strength one so don’t bother spreading out your attacks for this reason.
Focus on the strongest enemy - you’ll soon learn to recognise them. It’s those guys with bazookas and other heavy weapons that you want to take out first, ideally.
Also, have a varied bunch of troops so you’re not solely reliant on bazooka wielding troops, without any assault rifles to wear the enemy down.
Out of battle
Keep training your troops. Early on, this will only take 30 seconds or so and incremental improvements can make a big difference later on.
You should also use the stars gained in battle to acquire new equipment, and you can combine the same pieces of equipment to gain bonuses, which can drastically improve your chances in a fight.
Besides the story missions, you can attack other players and participate in regular one-off missions. In each case, you’ll earn some experience and money, which is always handy.
