Are you tired of Flappy Bird clones yet? Nope? Well you should definitely checkout Benji Bananas HD for your fix of infuriating tapping. Benji Bannas is one of those games that just somehow manages to find its way onto your device without you even realizing, it’s one you can just see I the app store and think “Oh, hey, this looks cool I’ll try it out!” then you completely forget it’s there until you notice it several hours later, start playing and end up getting completely hooked.
Don’t get me wrong, the concept behind the game is hardly original, I know I have definitely played through my fair share of these finds of games before, but really, it’s an incredibly cute game, so I have to say that that’s probably what held the appeal for me. The concept behind this game is that you play as a monkey who swing from obstacle to obstacle, collecting as many bananas as he can as he goes about his difficult journey through the clouds, it’s a randomly generated endless runner type game, so really you can have fun with this game for as long as you can keep swinging through the trees.
The game controls are a little tricky to get the hang of at first, but once you know what you’re doing it’s incredibly easy to go through the endless runner type course for long periods of time. If you tap and hold the right side of your screen, you’ll make Benji grab the next vine, releasing the hold of the screen will make him fly through the sky and so on. But like I said, you’ll get the hang of it really quickly, so any trouble you have with moving around won’t really be much of a problem for very long.
There’s a pretty wide selection when it comes to choosing the scene where you want to do your run in, which is great as it means that you won’t be bored with the same scene over and over again. The game also really shines with its great use of special power ups and boost powers and there are three different types, there are the ones that you can get from the in game store which will have a temporary effect of Benji and how he runs through the area, then there are also permanent boosts that, once used, will have an effect on all runs that you do, and finally the boosts that can be picked up at random during runs, these in particular can be really good, especially since there is a really good variety of them with different effects, since they activate straight away too, these can be incredibly useful.
Another great feature in the game is the mission feature, which can be really look if you’re looking to break the monotony of the regular gameplay, having specific goals and set tasks can really give the gameplay a better sense of flow to it and gives you more of a reason to play rather than just outscoring yourself. In addition to this, any missions you complete will also provide you with rewards for doing so, so really; it’s win/win for you!
The game is free, yet there are none or those irritating pop up ads that like to appear in many relatively unknown games, and really, once you get into the game, you’ll quickly see that you don’t really have much need to go ahead and make any in app purchases to improve your game-playing experience. The game in itself is definitely a really great one that is worth a download, it’s free so you may as well give it a try!
The game is highly simplistic and doesn’t require you to use a whole lot of brainpower to understand exactly what to do. The scenery of the area will change up regularly so you don’t end up getting bored of the same scene constantly, new obstacles will also get added every couple of levels, so you find that the difficulty slowly increases, offering you more of a challenge as you get deeper into the game.
Benji Bananas definitely comes up under the endless type genre of games and has already attracted plenty of attention from fans of the genre. To be honest, I found the idea behind this game, whilst unoriginal, oddly charming. The app definitely brings great new ideas to the genre, which in my opinion is definitely one of the better things a game can do for the future of the gaming industry.
So, like I said, this game is definitely worth a play at the low low price tag of zero, you hardly lose anything by playing the game, besides your time, but everyone knows we only really play these games to kill time anyway, so it’s not big loss!
Benji Bananas HD is currently running version 1.22.0 and requires that your device be running iOS version 6.0 or anything later, and it is available for Android as well. Whilst this game has been around for a while, there may still be bugs in the game, so if you experience any bugs, take note of exactly what happened to you and report it to the developers, which can be done in a variety of ways; you can write a note on the games Facebook page, tweet the developers, email them, or even through the app itself in the help section. Reporting any issues ensures that the problem is taken not of and a fix will likely be released in a future update.
Currently the game can only be played in English which makes playing this game significantly more difficult for individuals that want to play the game, Regardless, of this, the game is incredibly simple and follows a similar pattern to games like flappy bird, so figuring out what you are generally supposed to do in the game should not be too hard, even if you don’t understand the language. However, if you feel that there may be a high demand for your language, I would once again advise contacting the developers so that they are made aware of the fact that more international languages are needed in the game. The game can be downloaded from the app store for free and also includes optional in app purchases. The game currently has a rating of four and a half stars. There have been mostly positive reviews praising how much fun the game is.

As far as I can tell, there are no reputable, working hacks floating around the internet as of yet, however, this game in quickly growing in popularity, so one could be released sometime in the future, but for now, take note of these tips and tricks to make your game go by a little easier. Sorry hackers! You’re out of luck this time!
As you get further into the game, the biggest tip I can offer is that you must stay constantly aware of your surroundings, when deciding to jump to the next vine. You should be very careful about which vine you jump on, as you could end up accidently jumping onto one of the deceptive snake vines that fall when you grab ahold of it, leaving you helplessly flying to the ground with no chance of saving yourself, unless by some miracle you end up grabbing hold of a vine before you plummet to the ground.
You are able to complete any three missions at a time during any one level. I would definitely advise trying to get the maximum number of complete missions in a level as you’ll end up with a nice bonus chunk of bananas and a brand new set of missions to complete in your next run through.
Completing enough missions will ultimately level you up, unlocking brand new power ups, which will then become accessible within your runs. The more4 missions you’re able to complete, the higher the level you’ll climb to, unlocking bigger and better power ups, making your gameplay even easier, despite getting into harder points of the game.
One of the besy power ups in my opinion is the money companion power up whereby if you do manage to end up falling, you’ll have these two monekey buddies who have your back covered and can shoot you back up into the air. This will be making it easier for you to grab a hold of another vine instead of plummeting to the ground. In addition to this, you’re also able to spend your bananas on longer vines, which are easier to grab ahold of, more hangers, or even increase your ability to swing from vine to vine for longer periods of time without falling. So really the biggest favor you can do yourself in theis game is to save up as many bananas as you possibly can so you’re able to afford the really good power ups. Don’t worry if you can’t afford them though, just make sure you keep an eye out for any power ups that are floating around the vines as these are free and will last you your entire run, making for a much easier run.
Artwork: I give Benji Bananas an 8/10 for its artwork. I will definitely give credit where credit is due to this game. It looks amazing for something you could spend a second looking at, only to dismiss it as a mere kids game. The graphics have been designed to have an almost comic book feel to them which definitely works really well in this style of game. The artists of the game didn’t go overboard with making everything perfect, but this really works, since I don’t really feel that extravagance is needed at all in this game.
Music and SFX: I give the game an 8/10 for music and SFX. The music and sound effects included in this game definitely have a really cutesy feel to them, which really contributes to the overall feel of the game itself. The sound effects are placed perfectly throughout the running area, allowing noises for a variety of actions, such as flying through the air, using power ups, grabbing hold of vines falling, etc. they aren’t cheesy by any means, nor are they overdone, they’re mean to be funny rather than serious, which is definitely something I can appreciate in a game like this.
Story and Originality: I give the game a 6/10 for its story and originality. I’ll be straight, there isn’t much when it comes to the story of this game, and yes, that can make it feel a little boring and pointless at times, but I think that’s what purpose the missions serve, to give it that sense of flow that a story would provide it with, but still, I really feel lie there is potential for a really good story to the game. In terms of its originality, as I’ve mentioned, this game is hardly original, it has taken a lot of ideas from a varity of games in the free running/tapping genre, but at the same time, it has definitely contributed a few of its own ideas to the genres, which, in my opinion is one of the best things a team of developers can do for any chosen genre, as it helps future games that aspire to be similar.
Gameplay: I give the game an 8/10 for its gameplay. Once you figure of how to control yourself in this game, the gameplay is really very simple, finding the right rhythm within which to swing and catch the next vine is crucial to your success, perfecting your swing technique is not even al that hjard to do, meaning that you’ll find that once you’ve really got the game, it’s very easy to play, even collecting uo large numbers of bananas is pretty easy to do. The controls of the game are to be praised here, whilst, sure, they’re a little tricky to figure out initially, you get the hang if what you need to do quickly. They are incredibly smooth, without glitches, which is definitely a great thing for any game.
Addictiveness: I give the game a 9/10 for its addictiveness. This game is definitely at the top of my most addictive games list, it one of those games that you can play for hours without getting bored, because things are constantly changing, it’s easy to be surprised by the various obstacles and trick vines, which only drive you to do even better in the next run through of the jungle. the desire to outscore yourself is incredibly strong, and you’re always feeling the need to collect even more bananas so you can buy that one special power up that will make your runs even better! But like all games, you eventually either get bored after several hours, or you end up rage quitting after too many deaths. But don’t worry, you end up going back to it again once you’ve calmed down!
Overall, I give Benji Bananas HD an 8/10. Whilst there are still improvements to be made, this game definitely has a solid foundation upon which to build.
