There are a lot of tasks around a farm, like taking good care of and feeding animals, watering and harvesting crops, just to mention a few. Still, sometimes even trouble doesn’t avoid the farm life and turns the whole farm on its head. In Farmville: Harvest Swap you will need to be confident in your skills to both manage your farm and take care of any possible distractions!
Farmville: Harvest Swap is a match-3 spinoff of Farmville by Zynga, the developer who is also behind such classics as most Farmville games, Words with Friends, Hanging with Friends, Zynga Poker and many more.
Farmville: Harvest Swap is rated 4.4/5 stars on the Google Play Store at the moment, while having a 4.5/5 stars rating on the Apple App Store. Since the successful developer has been in the industry for long, the lookout for Farmville: Harvest Swap is good, but we will see how it lives up to the name.
The game’s theme is set around farms and all that comes with it. When you first start out, you are tasked to harvest the crops, which is done by classic match-3 gameplay. You have to match 3 of the same colored crops, like apples or blueberries to make a match, which will make those disappear and award you points.
You can move around the game using the map feature, where you can check out all the possible levels and choose from available ones. The map is divided into 10 chapters, each having a short story behind them. You start out on Barn’s Blazing, which is the tutorial chapter and as you progress to the last levels, the barn will catch on fire. You will have to use water to put it out, by matching waterdrops among the crops on the board.
The other 9 chapters all include brand new stories and varying amounts of levels for you to complete. These chapters are called Bunny Bonanza, Hungry Farm, Cold Snap, Chasing Chickens, County Fair, Wedding Day Woes, Balloon Blunder, Tornado Turmoil and Bad Doggie. All of these are named in a way that you can easily guess each’s theme.
Other than each chapter having a new theme, they also include new gameplay elements to keep the gameplay fresh and interesting. For example Bunny Bonanza features bunnies who are digging up the farm and causing trouble. If you collect enough carrots on the levels, that will make the bunnies happy and they will eat the grass on part of the game board, which cause it to expand, having more crops and more space to match them. In Hungry Farm, you will have to feed the animals around the farm by matching the required amount of different crops, like corn for the chickens. At the same time, you can also match waterdrops, which will cause one of the game’s farmer characters to water your crops, making them worth 2x, 3x or 4x as much for collection purposes. These and other new features also mix on some of the levels.
Farmville: Harvest Swap also has a lot of different special crops on the board, which you can get by matching normal crops in all kinds of ways. Matching 4 of the same colored crops will create a shiny crop, which when matched again will create a sunbeam that takes off a whole row or column of crops. Matching 5 crops together will create a barrel that can be matched with any crop near it, which will cause it to collect all of the same type of crops on the whole board. Matching 4 crops in a square pattern will create a crate, from where you can swipe interconnected crops of the same type, causing the crate to collect them all. Matching 5 crops in an L shape or 6 in a T shape will create a prized crop, which will explode when matched, clearing all crops around it in a radius.
Farmville: Harvest Swap also features a life counter, which will max out at 5 and act as a way to check your possible retries. If you run out of moves and fail a level, you will either lose a life or can play on by buying 5 more moves with diamonds. In the same way you can also get powerups in the start of levels with these diamonds.
Diamonds can be bought with real money, starting with prices like $0.99 for 10 diamonds, with the max being $49.99 for 680 diamonds. The game generously starts you off with around 30 or so in the beginning though, so you might not feel like buying more for a while.
There are also gold coins available in the game and diamonds can be swapped for them in a ratio, but the game doesn’t really seem to have an use for these gold coins yet.
The game fortunately doesn’t feature any intrusive ads, only voluntarily watchable ones, like when you lose all of your lives, you get a chance to watch an ad to gain an extra one. You can also login to Facebook to get more lives from your friends and get some extra diamonds for free.
If you are playing Farmville: Harvest Swap then you know coins and diamonds are vital for the game and to get in-game items and upgrades. You can get these items through the app store, but it will cost you real money, and this gets expensive really quick. If you would like to get the coins and diamonds for Farmville: Harvest Swap free, simply download our hack tool.
Look at the image below to see how the Farmville: Harvest Swap hack tool works. Just enter the coins and diamonds that you want to add to your account using the options menu.
To begin, download the Farmville: Harvest Swap hack tool, and it should take about 20seconds to download. You will notice it automatically installs afterward, which should take about 20 seconds. Choose either iOS or Android depending on what device you are using, and you can then enter the amounts of each one you want to add to your gaming account.
Lastly, tap “Start” to begin the Farmville: Harvest Swap hack tool, which will take around 20 seconds to finish. After that has finished, you can simply open up the app on your device, and you will notice the coins and diamonds have already been added to your account.
Cheats in Farmville: Harvest Swap come in the form of powerups, which you can buy in the beginning of each level for diamonds. These vary from +5 moves for the level to shovels to remove a chosen crop at will, sunbeams to appear already at the start of the level without the need to match anything and even stuff like a wheelbarrow to make all crops of a chosen type disappear from the board. Using these can make each level much easier. If you are having serious troubles with a level, then consider using them, otherwise saving your diamonds is better, as they are limited.
As for tips, you should try to remember to look out for opportunities to match crops in ways to create special ones. Since each level has a limited number of moves, you will want to maximize your score and crop collecting speed. So if you can avoid it, try to not make too simple moves that only match 3 and do nothing else. Always be on the lookout for special opportunities!
Also try to keep in mind that each chapter has a specific new gameplay addition for a reason. Most levels in chapters will be focused on that new addition, therefore you should not disregard things like that. For example not collecting carrots on the bunny levels to expand the board using the bunnies will leave you at a disadvantage, as you will be able to match less crops on a smaller board, instead of the expanded area.
Another tip is that there are diamond chests appearing on maps each day, so try to look for these and complete the level assigned to them for some free diamond loot.
You can also login to Facebook to gain free diamonds, but it’s not something you must do.
I must say that I love match-3 games, they are probably my favorite type of casual games, be it on mobile or a computer. For this reason I looked forward to Farmville: Harvest Swap a lot.
This game delivers extremely well on the match-3 gameplay aspect. Even on the first levels the game played so fluidly and so simply, that I already got to like it. As I kept progressing, I found harder and harder levels, which was a welcome challenge. Although some of the levels seemed to be ”artificially” hard, probably for the reason to make players purchase diamonds. While I don’t generally like this idea, it’s understandable from the developer’s viewpoint. I also didn’t really have trouble with most levels, so it wasn’t really annoying. Of course acing each level and getting 3 stars is not easy without spending diamonds, but personally I went for the simple completion of each level, not for perfection.
The various chapters were also done in a fun and unique way, telling me a story everytime I passed to a new one. Some of the levels even featured short cutscenes when bigger events were about to happen, which I really liked.
There are also so many levels in Farmville: Harvest Swap that I just simply didn’t have the time to open the second half of the chapters, as each contains around 15-20 levels. Still, the main part of why I couldn’t progress as fast was the limited number of lives available. There is an option to gain a new life for watching an ad after I ran out of all, but in the long run it didn’t help that much, as one life can easily be lost in this game, especially on the later levels, as they can be pretty hard to complete on a first try. So waiting for lives to recharge is something that limited my progress greatly.
Still, otherwise I had a joyful time with this game and hope to keep playing it. It’s probably worth the time to check out, especially for players who like match-3 games just as much as I do.
Artwork: I give the artwork in Farmville: Harvest Swap an 8/10. This game looks crisp with it’s cartoonish art style. It looks a bit different and maybe even more professional than most similar games.
Music & SFX: The music gets a 7/10 from me. The game’s music is most reminiscent of country music, which pretty much fits the farm theme well. The SFX is where the game really shines in the sounds aspect though, as most of the environmental sounds are surprisigly realistic, although there can be a little repetition in the animal noises.
Story & Originality: The story in this game gets an 8/10 rating. Nobody expects a story from a match-3 game most of the time, but Farmville: Harvest Swap delivers one in a way that’s not even bad. Each chapter is well presented with little scenarios and cutscenes played out before the player, simply, but effectively telling the story behind it.
General Gameplay: The general gameplay deserves a 7/10. The gameplay is pretty much fun, with well welcomed additions in the form of new types of special crops, like the crate and barrel. The basic match-3 mechanic is also great and plays fluidly. The enjoyment is only lowered by the fact that a lot of the later levels are made hard enough for it to take multiple tries, or pay up for cheats in the form of powerups.
Addictiveness: The addictiveness of the game gets a 8/10. This is no doubt a greatly addicting game, where there are enough levels to last a long time even for more hardcore match-3 players. The only problem is the limited amount of lives and therefore possibilities to try again once you fail a level. Having to wait to get more lives might turn some people off, but they will probably still come back later on, once the addictive factor kicks in.
Overall Score: 7/10.
