As a young child I grew up watching Sonic and his friend’s battle against Dr. Robotnik and his evil schemes. I really enjoyed watching the show and the concept was really fresh and nice as well because how often do we see a hedgehog in the city life? Nevertheless, SEGA Company is one company that I am always having nice feelings about. They often bring about Japanese culture and games over to their company taking a risk which is quite great.

In Sonic Racing Transformed, you get to play as Sonic and you get to interact with your favorite friends as seen in the animation! I love how you get to battle on various places like on the road via the car, on the water via the boat, as well as in the air via the plane! When playing this game, it is hard to not tilt or move in your seat. Have you ever played a game so great that when you are being attacked you just move your own body as if you moving would also move the game character in the game?

I was a bit hesitant to download Sonic Racing Transformed due to its large size, but I believe that everyone should give this game a try because if you are a fan of Sonic and his friends from their animations, then you can relive the whole experience. Another thing is that this game reminds me of Grand Theft Auto, except on the mobile device and tablet, but in Sonic Racing Transformed you get to experience the rush of racing not only in racing cars but also in airplanes and boats! The graphics are high quality so you don’t have to worry about the graphics! But one thing is that if your device has a lot of data or storage in it, it could slow down or lag Sonic Racing Transformed.

Sonic Racing Transformed doesn’t offer quality change in graphics, meaning you can’t switch the quality of the graphics to low, medium, or high. They also don’t automatically change the game quality as well. Many users have reported that even though similar high quality game run smoothly and with no problem, Sonic Racing Transformed doesn’t perform as well. The second pro and or con is that Sonic Racing Transformed offers controller support. But the only controller they support is the MOGA controller.

Overall, Sonic Racing Transformed is a decent game that has a lot of potential and offers a lot of game support. It is constantly being updated with new features which keeps Sonic Racing Transformed addicting!

Artwork: The artwork for Sonic Racing Transformed receives the overall rating of 9/10 for this category. The artwork in Sonic Racing Transformed is bright and vibrant, all the colors are distinctive and if you have ever watched the old animations of Sonic and his friends, you can tell that the game designs and colors in Sonic Racing Transformed are true to the franchise. The graphics in this game are also quite detailed and it shows in the amount of space it needs to take to be installed. If you are a big fan of detailed background artwork, you will not be disappointed in Sonic Racing Transformed. The reason why there was one point taken off from this game was that even though it delivers a lot of high quality graphics and gameplay, it doesn’t offer the option of the game resolution such as low graphics, medium graphics, or high graphics. There was numerous complaints about this.

Music & SFX: The music and SFX category of Sonic Racing Transformed receives the overall rating of 8/10. I really enjoyed listening to the high quality background music that was featured in Sonic Racing Transformed. The sound effects sounded very real and not virtual at all, and all of the sounds was clear and sharp. I took off two points for the music and SFX category of Sonic Racing Transformed due to there was no smooth transition when you are going to one game to the next. There was also a slight disappointment with the lack of various background music available in such a large game! Sonic Racing Transformed takes at least 1 GB of space to be installed, although it delivers high quality graphics and artwork, it does not do such a great job at delivering different background music for various race tracks and settings.

Story & Originality: The story and originality section for Sonic Racing Transformed receives the overall rating of 9/10. I felt that it was fresh not seeing Sonic and his friends being chased by Dr. Robotnik and that you are playing as Sonic. There isn’t a big storyline in Sonic Racing Transformed so this game is really a game built on your imagination and creativity. I like how Sonic Racing Transformed is still continuing to add new contents in the game. For originality wise, I felt that it deserved a fairly high rating because SEGA owns the Sonic franchise and they clearly represented Sonic and his friends fairly well in Sonic Racing Transformed.

General Gameplay: The general gameplay in Sonic Racing Transformed receives the overall rating of 7/10. I enjoyed this game thoroughly but there was some issues that I didn’t enjoy. One of them was that even though this is a high quality game, it was really large and it’s not a 3D game like SIMS for mobile game device and tablets. If you look at the games by Angry Birds, they also feature high quality gameplay and graphics but they take no more than 300mb to 500mb of space. While Sonic Racing Transformed delivers high quality gameplay and graphics, oftentimes, the graphics lags and blurs making it unplayable to many users. You cannot select the quality of the graphics which makes it hard. Some users have questioned why they couldn’t run Sonic Racing Transformed smoothly even though they can run similar high quality games with no troubles at all.

Addictiveness: The addictiveness factor for Sonic Racing Transformed receives the rating of 8/10. I really enjoyed the diversity offered in this game of different race tracks. You can either be on the road with your car, or on the water with a boat, or in the air with a plane! I also like how you can play Sonic Racing Transformed with a controller, but I found that if you do not own the MOGA controller which is the controller that is supported by Sonic Racing Transformed, then it is quite useless. Many people who use game controllers to play PC games mostly use the XBOX 360 controller, and it doesn’t seem like a good investment to buy the MOGA Controller just to play one game, Sonic Racing Transformed. For this reason, I give Sonic Racing Transformed a rating of 8/10 due to the graphics bugs and glitches and only one option with which game controller to use.

The overall rating for Sonic Racing Transformed is 8/10. While this game overall was a good game, I felt that it could have more potentials. I didn’t like the fact that they only supported one game controller, MOGA controller, and that they didn’t include the option to select the graphics quality. Many games oftentimes adjust the graphic quality according to the players internet connection automatically, and Sonic Racing Transformed didn’t offer that either. For such a large game, Sonic Racing Transformed didn’t deliver some of the essential features a game should have.
