If you enjoy adventure games where you have to kill creatures with your swords and magic spells and complete quests, than Swordigo is just the game for you. The gameplay is similar to Zelda: A link to the past, which is an old SNES game. Swordigo has been developed and successfully released by game developer Touch Foo, and it is widely popular among mobile gamers. The game has been downloaded over five million times with a stunning rating of 4.3 out of 5 on Google Play Store and a 4.5 out of 5 star rating on iOS App Store. Swordigo is free to download on Google Play Store and costs $2,99 on iOS App Store.
The world is being terrorized by creatures called the Corrupters, who were once banished but managed to return, and they are out for vengeance. They have already killed your teacher and attacked you, so the people in your village are asking for your help. In order to be able to help them, you will have to go on an adventure and find the Legendary Sword, which is powerful enough to kill any Corrupter in your path. In Swordigo, there are a ton of quests that you need complete one by one, in order to be able to progress through the game. Your goal is to help your own people out and take down the Corrupters, once and for all.
You can create two characters on one device, which means that you and a friend or family member can play Swordigo on the same device. Your progress will be saved locally and you can change your character’s name at the “Load” screen. Once you have started up a game, you will go through a tutorial, which teaches you how to move, jump, attack and complete quests. Swordigo has a two-thumb control system, which means that you will need to use your left thumb to move left and right, and your right thumb to jump and attack.
Your character starts at level one but will level up pretty quickly. You gain experience points by killing enemy creatures and completing quests. This will increase your health, attack power and magic power. You will be able to use magic spells more often, before you need to wait for your mana to refill itself. You have an inventory, where you can check what kind of weapon, trinket and magic spell you have equipped. You will also be able to see the damage of each of these things. This will help you to decide which weapon and spell is the best to use.
In order to be able to complete quests, you will have to travel around the world. Luckily you have a World Map where you can see your location and which route to take to reach your destination. There is also a Quests tab, where you will be able to read back what you and your quest giver have discussed and what you have to do in order to complete the quest successfully.
The developers of Swordigo have implemented an achievement system into their game. There are a total of twenty-eight achievements, which upon completion, will give you a certain amount of points. There is nothing practical about having these points, but you will be able to show off to your friends. Having achievements in a game will also give players a challenge, which is nice to have because many players enjoy them. However, In order to be able to earn achievements in Swordigo, you will have to sign in with your Google+ account. This will also enable the cloud sync option, which allows you to play with your character and save your progress through multiple mobile devices.
Swordigo In-game store
There is only one kind of currency in Swordigo, which is called Soul Shards. You can obtain soul shards by playing the game, killing enemy creatures and completing quests successfully. You can use soul shards to purchase items in shops, which are located in villages within the game. Items in shops range from Healing Potions to Swords and Trinkets. The items in the in-game shops will increase your power, do more damage to enemy creatures and will make the general gameplay easier. You cannot purchase soul shards with real money, so you will have to really play the game if you want to be able to purchase items in the shop.
There are three items in the in-game store, which you can only purchase with real money, if you wish to do so. The first item is called “Support Devs + AD FREE” and goes for $0,99, which is basically a donation to help the developers of Swordigo out. This will also make the game completely ad-free, which is always nice. The second item is called “Guiding Compass + AD FREE” which goes for $1,99. This compass will allow you to find the way to your next objective very easily and can come in handy for players who are easily confused by world maps. Purchasing the Guiding Compass will also make the game completely ad-free. The third and last item is called the “Coin Doubler + AD FREE”, which costs $1,99. This item will double the amount of soul shards that you get by opening treasure chests and killing enemy creatures. The Coin Doubler will also make the game ad-free, just like the other items.

In Swordigo, you can purchase items, swords, trinkets and magic spells in the in-game shops. To be able to purchase said items, you will have to pay with soul shards, which are basically crystals that you collect by opening up treasure chests, killing enemy creatures and completing quests. You are going to need a lot of soul shards if you want to purchase powerful items, so of course there are websites that offer cheat tools, hack tools or mods that can allegedly give you an unlimited amount of soul shards. This sounds too good to be true, because it is. There is no way to hack into the game and give yourself soul shards, and the websites that claim that you can, are all out to trick you and earn money off of you. They do this by hiding their so called cheat tools behind surveys, which you need to fill in before you can start downloading the files.
I decided to try out one of the many cheat tools available for Swordigo, to prove to everyone that it does not work. I went to one of the websites that offered a Swordigo cheat tool and clicked on the download button, which redirected me to a shady looking download website. On this website, it stated that I needed to fill in one of the many surveys, before I could even start downloading the files that I needed. After I successfully completed a survey and my download finished, I tried starting the cheat tool up but I only received error messages. The messages stated that I needed to re-download the cheat tool, if I wanted it to work. Instead of wasting your time, trying to find working cheat tools for Swordigo, I will give you some tips and tricks that will help you with your gameplay.
Swordigo Gameplay Tips and Tricks
In Swordigo, it is important that you purchase better weapons and learn better magic spells, so that you can take down more powerful enemies. The problem is that you will need a lot of soul shards to be able to purchase them. The first piece of advice I would like to give everyone is to not spend any soul shards on low tier weapons and spells. You should save up all the soul shards that you can get, and when you are at a point in the game where you can no longer progress through the game, you should go in an in-game shop and purchase the most powerful weapons and items that you can find. This way, you won’t waste any soul shards on unnecessary items and weapons, because they will be severely underpowered by the time that you progress through the game a bit. You can check your inventory to see how much damage you can do with your current weapon and magic spell.
The best way to earn a lot of soul shards in Swordigo is by completing quests. At the beginning of the gameplay, the quests are very easy and short and they award you with soul shards. You should also look around for treasure chests, which are pretty well hidden around the world map. In these chests, you will find small amounts of soul shards, but occasionally there are jackpot chests, which have a lot of soul shards in them. After you have saved up a lot of soul shards, you will be able to easily purchase whatever item you wish, from the in-game shop.
Before I downloaded and played Swordigo, I had no idea what the game would be about. Judging by the logo and screenshots of the game, I could imagine that it would be an adventure game, but nothing other than that. I was pleasantly surprised that Swordigo had great graphics, decent soundtracks and sound effects, and a lot of features which you could sink your teeth in. Swordigo is no time-killer game by any means because you will find yourself playing this game for several hours, without noticing that the time has passed by so quickly. A very positive aspect about Swordigo is that the game is free-to-play, if you own an Android phone. You will not have to pay to unlock the full game, and there are no playtime limitations. This means that players can play Swordigo whenever they want, however long they want. Of course, there is an in-game store where you can purchase items with real money, but you do not necessarily need them to be able to progress through the game.
Unfortunately, there are also several negative aspects about Swordigo. For starters, the game has a lot of pop-up advertisements implemented in it. The pop-up advertisements show up at random times, which can result in you accidently tapping on them. This makes it feels like the developers of Swordigo did this on purpose, so that they could earn a bit of money off of people who accidently tapped on the advertisements. The worst part about these pop-up advertisements is the fact that they minimalize your game and start up your browser, if you accidently tap on them. This is very annoying and obstructive and might be a turn off for many players, including myself. Of course, you can purchase an item in the in-game store with real money, to make the game completely ad-free, but not everyone wants to, or can afford to spend money on a free-to-play game.
The second negative aspect about Swordigo is that the gameplay can become pretty linear when you have played it for a while. It feels like the developers have run out of ideas when they were designing the quests of the game. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of quests in Swordigo, which means that there are many hours of gameplay. The problem is that the quests all feel the same at some point, which means that you will be repeating the same things over and over again. I would have hoped that there were some more unique quests, to keep the gameplay fresh and entertaining. I can’t really blame the developers, because it is a free-to-play game, on Android at least.
Swordigo Ratings
Artwork: I give Swordigo an 8/10 for its artwork. The graphics and animations in Swordigo are pretty decent, especially considering that it is a mobile game. I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that the gameplay is similar to Zelda: A link to the past, which I enjoyed playing when I was younger. The graphics are cartoonish but do have special effects which do not fit very well together. I really like the fact that there are different weapons, trinkets, items and magic spells, which all are very detailed and have their own animations. This tells me that the developers spend a lot of time designing the graphics of Swordigo, which is always a nice thing to see.
Music & SFX: I give Swordigo an 8/10 for its music and SFX. There are a few soundtracks and sound effects in Swordigo, which are nice and match the overall graphics of the game. I must admit that the soundtracks can get a bit repetitive, so it is nice that you can turn down the volume in the options. I like the fact that there are several different soundtracks so that you can hear at what kind of stage you are at within the game. There are a lot of sound effects, from swinging your sword to casting a magic spell, which makes the gameplay fun to play. The soundtracks and sound effects fit each other very well and the developers have done a good job combining both of them, making them easy on the ears.
Story & Originality: I give Swordigo an 8/10 for its story and originality. I have played several mobile games which were similar to Swordigo, but the developers have been able to keep the gameplay original. There are a lot of features in the game which I have seen before, but the developers of Swordigo have added them and used their own creative ideas doing so. There is a nice story, which will help players to feel for the characters and put themselves in their world.
General Gameplay: I give Swordigo an 8/10 for general gameplay. The gameplay in Swordigo starts with a small quest, which is basically the tutorial of the game. In this tutorial, you will learn the basics of the game, how to control your character, attack enemy characters and complete quests. After the tutorial ends, the gameplay becomes pretty straightforward, but still very entertaining to play due to all of the features in the game. You have a ton of quests which you need to complete, a lot of weapons, magic spells and trinkets which you can purchase and use and a whole lot of enemy creatures to take down. What would have been better is if there were more variants in quests, which would have made the gameplay more enjoyable. I was happy to see that the controls were responsive and the user interface crisp and clear.
Addictiveness: I give Swordigo a 7/10 for addictiveness. Swordigo would have been more addictive, if there were no annoying and obstructive advertisements implemented in it. That is probably the biggest turn off for me, when games have pop-up advertisements that show up exactly when you are about to tap on the screen. Swordigo has a lot of potential and can easily suck up several hours of gameplay without you noticing, which makes the game pretty addictive in my opinion. There are a lot of quests and creatures that you need to face, and many items and spells that you can purchase and use. There is a reason why Swordigo is so popular among mobile gamers, which is that it resembles older SNES games such as Zelda.
All things considered, I give Swordigo an 8/10.
