Hello everyone! Have you all heard of the hit Disney movie, Frozen? Every girl have once played a dressing up game or a salon game. Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon takes place in winter where beautiful and lonely princesses lives in the castle. Does this scenario sound familiar to anyone? The game company, Salon TM, isn’t affiliated with Disney, but a lot of the girl avatars are familiar looking due to them looking like they came out from Frozen’s Elsa and Rapunzel. You can also choose hair accessories and apply skin care to your princess in Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon! Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon is a straight forward game that doesn’t have any difficulty in playing it. However, the game developers does insist that you need to be super careful with each step of making your princess “perfect,” they state that the smallest mistake will become a large difference.
I normally don’t play any dressing up or makeup games, but Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon has caught my eye because the movie, Frozen, was amazing. I enjoyed the whole process of creating my princess, I really liked how there are so many different princess to choose from!
Each of the process and step in Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon was accurate, such as applying lipstick and more. However, I did wish there was redo’s, but if someone remembered each and every action they did in Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon they can always remake the same princess again. In many games designed for girls, oftentimes the games are only focused on one part, either only applying makeup or only dressing up. In Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon, you get to do her hair, makeup, and dress her up. This was a pleasant game to play.
As much as I did enjoy my time creating my very own princess in Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon, I didn’t really like how Salon TM phrased their description of the game. They placed a lot of emphasis on the word being perfect and that the “slight mistake would make a huge difference” and “The princess should be PERFECT!” Parents should take caution on this and play this game with their daughters to remind them that everyone is beautiful in their own way and they are perfect the way they are. I think that the game itself, Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon is fine, but I don’t think young children should read the description of the game.
Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon ran fine but during a lot of occasions after you have turned your phone off, the game would reset itself and not save the progress. Also, there are bugs and glitches that affects the dressing up process like the game going black or it going blank and resulting in Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon being unplayable because the dress up process is the last step in saving your princess and the final touch! That being said, Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon hasn’t been updated for almost close to a year. I don’t believe the game will be updated with the bugs and glitches fix for a long time, since the game company is already creating more dress up games.
If Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon bugs and glitches were fixed, then the ratings on the Google Play Store as well as my review here, would be higher. I also think that they should be careful with their wording in their game description. Salon TM has a wide variety of games that seems to be putting out in the mobile game market almost unbelievably fast, through all of their games, many people complained about the same bugs and glitches. I feel that if they were to focus on the problem, such as those in Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon, then there games would receive much higher feedbacks.
Ratings
Artwork: The artwork in Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon receives the rating of 10/10. The artwork was flawless and all of the princesses and the designs looks beautiful and vibrant. All of the colors were spot on and they shined through, it was hard just picking one type of makeup for all. I did wish that there was more variety, such as adding a color wheel for when choosing what colors for your princess. Instead of just allowing us to choose black, red, brown and the normal colors for the hair, if they add in the color wheel we could have blue hair or green! Also, for a lot of the makeup, if they add in the color wheel option, you will be able to do dark makeup or nude makeup also known as natural makeup too. In Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon you can only choose from three different princesses as well, if they had the option to custom design the face such as choosing the eye color, the face shape, lip shape, nose, etc, then there would be more individualism and freedom.
Music & SFX: The music and SFX category for Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon was calm and soothing. There wasn’t anything special about the SFX and the background music didn’t stand out either. The final rating for the music and SFX section for Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon receives 5/10.
Story & Originality: The story and originality section for Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon receives the rating of 7/10. There was no storyline or originality in this game. This was just like every other makeup and dress up game, there wasn’t anything special. The only thing different in Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon is that you can choose 3 different princesses to customize as and nothing screams Frozen either, because only the background and Elsa is from frozen. In the game, Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon, they also spelled Elsa’s name wrong to Elle.
General Gameplay: The general gameplay in Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon receives the overall rating of 7/10. The game ran smoothly, but like many users have said, the ads pop up every 5 seconds making you unable to enjoy this game to the fullest. You could easily accidentally click a pop up ad and it will open up in your phones browser. After you close it and go back to Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon, you will have to start all over from scratch. This is a major bug in Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon. The screen orientation was also small, they did not do the screen sideways but facing up, therefore when you get up to choosing which dresses, shoes, bags, and more to wear, you can barely see what you are doing and can easily press something else as a mistake.
Addictiveness: The addictiveness factor for this game, Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon, receives the rating of 5/10. It receives such a low rating because besides dressing up three princesses, there really isn’t anything else to do. You get to choose from 3 different princesses, three different hairstyles: one blonde, one red, one black, then when you get to the makeup section, the colors doesn’t even change or show up, which defeats the process. A lot of the in game items are overpriced as well, if you want a blue eyeliner for example, it would cost $3.99 and it won’t preview and even after you brought it, it won’t be applied onto your character either. I feel that in Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon, they choose the screen orientation wrong. Everything feels squished and you can barely see what you are doing and it is hard to swipe to the next category. Overall, if Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon didn’t have these issues, then I would have given it a much higher score.
The overall rating for Ice Queen: Magic Frozen Salon is 7/10.
