During the night time mode in Race The Traffic, you should try your best to look ahead of where your highbeams show so that you will have the best possible chance of avoiding what is up ahead.  If you don’t, you might find yourself in an unavoidable situation where you can’t help but crash.  By keeping your eyes on the road ahead and not just at your car, you will be able to avoid hazards much earlier than you would otherwise.  This is especially true on the Night time mode because it is darker and the cars are harder to see than when it is the day time.  Even during the daytime you should use this strategy because it always helps to know what is up ahead instead of instantly reacting to something.  This will help you avoid crashing in both this game and in real life.

The next tip I can give you is for you to use whenever you are facing the enemy bot on the other team.  If you manage to get ahead, make sure that you are keeping yourself in front of him so that he can’t pass you.  If he tries to get to the edge and you block him off,he will end up hitting the wall and losing ground on you.  so y keeping yourself ahead of him, you are basically just cutting him off and not allowing him to pass so that you can most likely grab the win pretty easily.  If you are behind him, just make sure that you keep gaining speed so that you can surpass him quickly instead of it being a slow move forward to try and get ahead of him.  The bots are pretty dumb, so it isn’t too difficult tt to get past them pretty easily.

Race The Traffic Review

The game itself is pretty good with the controls being very simple.  Because the controls are so simple, it makes the game pretty easy to play for anyone of any age.  This game has a good mix of it being both complex and it being simple.  The controls are simple, but the strategy is pretty difficult.  Getting past someone using a car who is also trying to stay ahead of you isn’t easy.  It’s like in Nascar where you have to have some decent strategy in order to get ahead of someone and it isn’t like they will let you pass them for free.  Overall, Race The Traffic mixes these simple controls with difficult strategy.  

I would recommend this game to anyone of any age because it is a fun and addicting game that is pretty easy to play, but also very difficult to master, making it an ideal game for anybody of any age to play and enjoy with friends or family.

Artwork

I would give Race the Traffic a 10/10.

The artwork for the game was superb! All of the vehicles on the road felt and looked different. The colours and different shapes of all the cars and the colours on the road made you feel like you were actually driving on the road and attempting to dodge/pass the cars in your way. The colour scheme included in the overtakes and opposite lane colours as well as the max speed seconds was also a great include in the game. The whole colour scheme of the game + the originality on the different cars and trucks really made this artwork stand out. The cars and other vehicles also actually felt like real vehicles instead of just obstacles that you had to dodge. You had to take into account how big the vehicle that you were trying to pass was so that you could get around them and back into the lane safely without hitting anything.

Music and SFX

I would give Race the Traffic a 5/10 for the music, but it is a 10/10 on the SFX  

The music in this game does not fit well with the genre, the music feels too much like an arcade while you the game is actually a highway speed dodging game. The sound effects are a great feature to this game though. The sound effects of the speeding up and slowing down and the crashes compliment the game in a great way. If the music were turned into something less cheesy and arcade-like then and into something a bit more hardcore and related to the game it would definitely get a 10/10.

Story and Originality

I would give Race the Traffic a 8/10 for originality though as there is no storyline, a storyline could potentially be immersed into this with maybe an addition of an opening cutscene showing him running away from something or someone which leads to him having to drive quickly and dangerously making him have to race the traffic.

There wasn’t too much originality in the game choice. As it was just the simple dodge traffic: the farther you go the more points you get, riskier moves = more points type of game. The original part that was included in this was the nighttime mode, and the three different ways to control the way that your vehicle was moving, (the tapping the brakes,gas,and directions. Tilting the screen, as well as pushing the pedals. Or just having the car speed up automatically while you control pushing the turns and pushing the brake pedal) The way that you controlled your vehicle was original though, but I will touch on that a bit more in the general gameplay section.

General Gameplay

I would give Race the Traffic a 10/10.

This game was a real treat to play! I love these types of games, even though most of them are get X distance like this one, it was still excellent. My first thought downloading this game was that it would be something that interacted with the screen being tipped and turned to move the character around instead of just the same old boring keys to switch to the left and to the right. But, the availability of having the 3 different very distinct ways of controlling the vehicles is a GREAT feature to this game! Having the customizability of the way that you want to play is an extremely good feature to have in the game and it is a real selling point for it.

As for the game modes, it is also an interesting feature. Having the choice between racing or the typical dodging things is a great feel good about the gameplay. You’re not rstricted simply to one aspect of the road and can experiment with different ones. Although with the racing mode, the black car is impossible to beat as he just smashes you into the side and takes the lead never to give it back, and if you try the same thing with him he will still be able to push away from you and take an insurmountable lead. Other than that though, the regular speed and dodge items is great! The fact that they are seperated into the one lane and two lane is good enough, but then it also gives you the choice between day (the easier one) and then night (the much more difficult one) is also an excellent feature which makes this game truly unique.

The car buying and upgrading per money gotten for points in the previous game is nothing special, but it does give the little bit of extra incentive to do better while doing the runs. I think that if some little side quest or something were added to the game to give more points or money or something would be an excellent addition to the game. Something else that is important to mobile gaming is the ad placement. I like this games ad placements as it is the typical just click a few extra times to get past the ad. Something else I like about this form of advertising is that it doesn’t intrude on the gameplay itself. Some games have ads that are banners across the screen while you are playing and it can be quite a distraction and a detraction from the game itself. This game doesn’t have that issue which is nice because the company still makes money from them and the player doesn’t have to have the gameplay hindered by them.

The turning on the vehicle when you’re changing lanes didn’t feel at all clunky as opposed to some of these games that you see. Some games will have some very uneven turning or lane changing when you hit the button or even some delay when you press it but this one has a very responsive touch to action time. The leaderboard function on this game is also a solid addition to it, allowing you to compare scores against other game center friends. The share button also helps out the game as you can get free popularity just from users sharing the game with their friends.

Addictiveness

I would give Race the Traffic a 10/10.   

This game is and will be continually addictive with all its different game modes and the features. The most addictive part about this game would have to be the fact that you need more and more money to unlock all the vehicles and their upgrades. Any game that requires upgrading and grinding money can be quite addictive as long as the gameplay and graphics are there to keep them on the hook. With a theme and gameplay like this one it isn’t hard to see this being a very addictive game. It’s also nice that the company can make money off of people paying for extra cash with real money. I can see this game being ideal while waiting for someone or waiting somewhere, as it is and can be a short game which takes little time to complete.

Something that could also be added to make the game even more addictive is have a special level or something unlocked to get more money when the user reaches a certain point plateau for the first time. The level could be something like driving as fast as you can while dodging cars and picking up piles of cash by driving into them. This would make the user want to play more and more to unlock the levels, and give them a substantial reward if they do make it that far. Another thing that could be added could be achievements where it keeps track of how many close calls or how many hits that the person had on their runs.

Overall Rating

Overall, I would give Race the Traffic a 10/10.

Race the Traffic is an excellent traffic dodging game and it is an immersive experience which can be beneficial to reaction times. All of the aspects in the game come together quite well except for the music. As I said before, if the music could be changed to something that fits the mood of the game a bit better, the experience could become that much better. With the gameplay there isn’t much wrong but maybe a little bit of balancing the AI in the racing portion would benefit the game greatly.

Something that truly separates this game from others is the clear individuality that the different vehicles on the road give you. When you see the different colours on the road in front of you, you recognize that it is a different vehicle which can be unlike some other games like this. Altogether the multiple game modes and the varying difficulty levels, paired with the three different ways to play this game, and the night and day modes to add or remove the difficulty make this a solid 10/10 in my books. Overall great all around game!
