These rings can be picked up again, if you’re quick enough, but getting hit by an enemy can diminish your ring count by a lot.
The levels are made up of well thought out spaces designed to allow Sonic to reach maximum speed. As you bounce, zoom and spin your way around the levels, you’ll notice that there are many interesting mechanics around to make your fast time even faster, from bouncers to accelerators. You’ll begin to get used to controlling Sonic, and this is done using a virtual analogue stick, accompanied by two buttons on the right hand of the screen that control jumping and special abilities used with the aid of Tails. This special ability button can either allow Sonic and Tails to activate a super speed ball while on the ground, or be used to activate a spinning helicopter using Tails tail, allowing the hedgehogs to fly up otherwise insurmountable gaps.

1) Watch out for enemies!
Sonic loves rings. He really, really loves rings. Therefore, he wants to keep them. Getting hit by enemies will cause some of the rings you have collected to drop to the ground, and if you’re not quick enough, these rings will dissipate. It’s fine to speed around the map collecting the rings, but if you’re not keeping a close eye out for obstacles, you could end up losing your whole collection. Some enemies are tricky, however, so don’t feel bad if you get hit by a few. Just try your best to pick up any rings that come out when you’re hit and you should still have a sizeable collection of rings by the end of the level.
2)Observe your environment.
If you’re stuck on what looks like an impassable obstacle, try looking around the area for any colourful or mechanical looking objects. These objects are often set into the levels as the only way of continuing, so noticing them and learning to use them is crucial. If you can’t see anything like that, try using your special ability, activated with the button next to jump either while on the ground or jumping, and this could be the solution to your problem.
3)Go fast!
If you’re continually running towards an obstacle and getting thrown back, it’s probably because you’re not going fast enough. Try holding down the jump button while crouching to start a stationary spin, and then let go while holding which direction you want to go to for a super speed boost. This should help you to get past any pesky spiral areas.
If you use these tips, you should be able to pass all the levels easily, and finish with a bunch of rings you’ve collected on the way. Have fun!

Anyone who’s played Sonic before will be familiar with the classic format, which includes a lot of running. The aim of the game is to collect rings while zooming your way through levels full of obstacles and mechanical objects used to bounce and speed you through. If you’re quick enough, you can use these obstacles in chains, which will allow you to obtain rings normally out of reach.
This game delivers everything Sonic has done well for the past two decades, and gives it to us in a portable platform for maximum arcade feel. The controls aren’t seamless, but once you get used to the jump icon that pops up when you’re expected to press the button, the game runs pretty smoothly overall. The special abilities you are able to activate with the ability button are quite interesting, and being able to change which ability you use by being on the ground or jumping is a fun mechanic.
The art style in the game is pretty classic, with a bit of polish. It looks really great, and the Android system handles the flashy graphics very well. The levels are also designed very nicely, and the puzzles are fun, but not very hard. Sound is this game is definitely a plus. The effects used for abilities and Sonic’s trademark spin are fantastic, and listening to the sound of rings dangling when collected is oh so sweet. Overall, this game does not fail to impress. If you are looking for a fast paced fun time on your portable Android, you will come away satisfied.

Music & SFX: I give Sonic 4 Episode II Light a 9 out of 10 for Music & SFX. The music and SFX in this game are fantastic, and will bring back memories for any die hard Sonic fan, but also with some modern twist.
Story & Originality: I give Sonic 4 Episode II Light a 7 out of 10 for Story & Originality. I can’t give this game too much for Originality, as it is one of many similar games in the series, but I also have to give SEGA some points for the original idea of Sonic.
General Gameplay: I give Sonic 4 Episode II Light a 9/10 for Gameplay. If you like Sonic, you’ll like this gameplay. The controls are quite smooth for an app game, and bring the feel of playing the classic all over again.
Addictiveness: I give Sonic 4 Episode II Light a 7 out of 10 for Addictiveness. This game isn’t particularly addictive, as it is a demo of the larger game, but I can imagine if I had all the levels I would be playing this one for a while.
