Ever wanted to drive a large vehicle around, but lack the experience or license to do so? Well, Bus Simulator 3D is here to save the day.
Developed by Alexandru Marusac, Bus Simulator 3D is a game that does exactly what it states on the tin. It allows you to experience being a bus driver, as you drive your bus through different terrains picking up passengers.
This game is compatible with both Android and Apple devices, so no matter which operating system strikes your fancy, you will be able to enjoy this simulating game.
As of the latest update, Bus Simulator 3D is currently compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running at least version 5.1. In addition, it is optimised for the iPhone 5, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. For Android phones, it requires the device to be running version 2.2 and up. Suitable for ages 3 and up, as long you can work a smartphone; this game makes for a fun game regardless of your age or generation. Get it on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
The best thing of all is that this app is available for free. Bus Simulator 3D is only in English, but with its simple commands and realistic gameplay, it is a challenge to put down, no matter which language you prefer to speak in.
The game goals are simple; you drive your chosen bus, pick up passengers at the virtual bus stops, drop them off at designated points and try your hardest not to crashing into another car or a wall while doing so.
When you first start the game, you are given a basic bus to start driving around with. The more you play the game, and the more experience points you accumulate within the game, you get to unlock different buses that you can uses. The buses range from normal public buses to fancy double-decker buses. Of course, if you are impatient, you can choose to unlock all buses, level packs and remove ads for only $2.99.
The game has three mode can be played. The career mode, where you can unlock level packs with every level that you complete, a free ride mode where you can freely steer the bus without worries, last but not least, the mission mode, where you can choose missions to complete.
Each level has a time limit ranging from 10-30 minutes for you to complete it. The level of difficulty varies from round to round.
The game allows you to choose between different steering styles, tilting the device, using a steering wheel and pressing left and right buttons. Each of these styles has their own pros and cons, but I would suggest not using the tilting method on a crowded train, as it tends to get people to give you the stink eye. Additionally, you are given the choice of choosing the metric to use in the game, with the choice of either Kilometres or Miles.
What makes this simulator game stand out from the others is the attention to details. Some of the routes have speed bumps that aren’t just for cosmetic purposes, the speed bumps really does help the bus to slow down, so it’s really convenient when placed in front of a pick-up station.
Although this might be a minus point to some, the game has penalties when you crash the bus against a wall or the sidewalk, braking too suddenly before a designated stop point or hitting a car. I feel that it is the details like that that adds additionally realism to the game, bring it to life.

Bus Simulator 3D is a solo game, meaning that in-game, you don’t race against your friends. However, you can, of course, choose to compete against your friends with your online rankings, through using the iOS Game Centre, but the fun is in seeing how you can challenge yourself and beat your high score for that mission, route or level.
There aren’t really many tips for this game, except if you want to get the highest score possible, try to avoid crashing into anything, and drop off your passengers at the designated locations as soon as possible, within the time limit. As the bus takes time to stop fully, don’t just wait until you’re in the stop zone before stopping, as an abrupt stop will be penalised.
This isn’t really a tip, but I feel that for a more immersive experience, change the camera angle to inside to cockpit, by tapping the camera icon on the top right corner of the screen.
For a different experience, try driving the bus on different terrains such as in the city, in the countryside, in the forest or snow. Each location yields a different feel as compared to another, making way for hours of fun exploring the driving the bus.
The best way to truly understand how realistic and fun the game is will be to play it. The best part is that you don’t need to pay a single cent to start playing this game, just download it off the app store, and you can start.
While Bus Simulator 3D is a fun game, it is lacking in certain areas. Compared to other iOS simulation games, the graphics utilised in the game are not the best. However, the areas that you could drive in were quite large, giving the game a nice, open map feeling.
Additionally, this game is not suitable for you if you prefer games with bigger variety. Majority of the goals, tasks and missions are just variations of each other.
Furthermore, it also might not appeal to players who prefer to interact with others when they play their games. A lack of a multi-player option might be off putting to certain players. On the other hand, players who like flying solo will be more inclined to play this game.
Bus Simulator 3D Ratings
Artwork
I would give Bus simulator three d a rating of 6/10 based on artwork. This is mainly the first part of the rating, and I give it such a decent rating. You may wonder why this rating is like this. In my opinion I believe that the rating I have given is because of the natural surroundings. For example the trees look like Lego trees in my honest opinion but it looked like they were cropped a bit as well. The roads are decent but the houses look crappie as well.
There are certain fences that are pretty simple looking which Is fine, as they are simple. But the problem will be revealed in the gameplay section. Improvements can be made in my honest opinion. If they made improvements towards the graphics section, I’m positive there will be more app attractors who will play this game and buy the packages the producer made. In conclusion, I would give bus simulator three d a total rating I would give them a 6/10.
Music and SFX
I would give music and SFX a rating of 7/10. A better rating towards the music section due to the fact that it matches like what a normal bus would run. The graphics make the game look like old times such as the 90’s. which also mean that the music would have to fit with it. The music actually matches with the timeline of this game in my opinon. Listen to the music and you can see that the music starts to slowly formulate, next thing you know while your trying to drive the bus ( I attempted many times to drive this bus, but it was really difficult for me.. I couldn’t even get pass one map.
Which was a big failure to me ) that the music blends in with the surroundings. The music isn’t annoying, and it doesn’t get annoying in my opion, there are games where I find the music really pestering after a few times. Or the music is just really bad. The music portion of this game Normally they would have a short length music span, where the music then ends up replaying over and over. Or in general the they only put one or two music so when you play and explore for too long it gets dragged on and your get annoyed. I like the idea of the fact that the graphics may look like the 90’s but then the music matches with the scenario which is a big impact actually. The music plays a role in which they could attract more audience and allow the current app users to stick to the game, get attracted, keep the app and recommend other friends to download the app. This is why I give music and SFx a rating of 7/10 mainly because of the attraction the music provides.
Story and originality
For story and originality I would give this a rating of 7/10 for bus simulator three d. The reason behind this is pretty simple. There is no background story towards this, you basically start off and you just start driving after you choose your spot and location as well as time of day you want to drive. Next is how the originality comes in place. They created a nicely formatted bus simulator where you can drive. This is actually really close towards a real life bus. How you drive in a bus is how you would drive in the simulator, except for the fact that this is on iphone, tablet, ipod, etc. But none the less this idea of a game is quite unique in my opinion.
They were able to create a bus simulator with such a detailed and unique music formats. This game can have a lot of improvements but the current positive feedbacks would be the music and the originality for now. I can easily compare this to Earn to Die LTD but there isn’t much to compare much about. Earn to die is like a similar format of Bus simulator but Earn to die has a better detailed game. Once again the originality is pretty unique for this game. There can be improvements made but I think so far this game is pretty sturdy and popular on demand. In conclusion this is why I would give bus simulator three d a rating of 7/10 based on story and originality.
General Gameplay
During the general gameplay and my playtime for this I would give this a rating of 8/10. This game has been put a lot of time through for me. I’ve played for quite some time, and honestly I think I am horrible at driving simulator games. Why? Because I couldn’t even get past one part of the map that I had loaded and started driving two hours ago. I really suck in my opinion, But there is minimum lag for this game. Often you won’t notice the lag. You would only notice or experience lag when you see the loading screens or sometimes some scenarios. The ad in this game is pretty decent. It is not horrible but it isn’t that good either.
The reason I say this is because I was able to see that the ad was like Any other game. It pops out sometimes, but there is also a mini ad point where the bottom of the screen is where your driving. At some points I would mistakenly click the ad that Is showing up because I hadn’t paid attention to it. When that happens the current progress I am in kind of sort of lags a bit, but it is still playable. I would like it if they would move the ad someplace else so I would not have to struggle so much while I am in the middle of driving towards a rock. That’s right a rock, I suck at driving. In this game it listed a description which I havnt seen in awile. It says “Do you like driving big vehicles? Then you have to try this Bus Driving game! Smooth controls, realistic vehicle physics and challenging gameplay. Try to be the best Bus Driver on the planet with the online ranking features and achievements. Bus Simulator 3D is the first real bus simulator for mobile devices! Bus parking is nothing, try out the bus simulator!
The best between the Bus Games!” Note that this says big vehicles, but to be honest it isn’t lying! I am not sure about the smooth controls and realistic vehicle physics. But I am also agreeing with one more thing bus simulator three d states. It is a difficult/ challenging gameplay. I struggled a lot of times in this and it was quite annoying towards the end. I kind of sort of rage quitted towards the end. Under the description it states that there is “ smooth controls / gameplay “ I am no sure if it is my phone, or if it is the game, but I would kind of have to disagree with it. The gameplay is a bit difficult when the ads mistakenly or purposely pop out of no where. Although you don’t lose progress of where you are at when you exit the game, there is a bit of annoyance that builds up little by little every time that happens. In conclusion this is why I would give bus simulator three d 2015 a rating of 8/10 based on the topic, general gameplay.
Addictiveness
I would give addictiveness for bus simulator three d 2015 a rating of 6/10.. It isn’t as high rating as general gameplay and the music section. This is because in my opinion I don’t like how annoying this game could get at certain points. I mean, if they add some simple tutorials I think I would be in a lot better condition right now. I wasn’t able to progress too far due to the fact that the buttons were too complicated. I had to click on this and tap on that a few times and experiment like a little kid exploring how a doll house works.
Like again some simple improvements would be that the developer would increase his time towards this game, improve how the graphics look such as the pictures and animations of the tree, the roads, the fences, and add in a sun. I didn’t quite see a sun, I like the idea that I can roam around wherever I please but there should be added a objective. Like a game that is really popular right now in the standards, known as Grand theft auto five. That game pops into my head when I see the gameplays give experience with grand theft auto five. I would love to continue and play this app when I am on the go during rush house. But there must be some importance of updates and improvements into this game before I am able to keep and find this game amusing. This is why I give addictiveness a rating of 6/10
Overall rating
I would rate this game of 6.5/10.
