Building a village involves not only singlehandedly constructing the buildings but also create a self-sustaining economy that can support all of the people living there including yourself. As you will soon find out, the Moshlings are utterly incapable of doing anything for themselves, not only do you have to cultivate land, plant the crops, you must also feed and house them, they are entirely dependent upon your efforts.
Luckily there are some benefits to your work, besides the warm feelings in your stomach of course, each building you erect is capable of earning revenue, also, you earn revenue from your crops and other economic activities. This revenue comes in the form of coins which you can use to purchase upgrades to buildings, coins, property decorations, customizations, etc. XP is used to level up, you earn xp for virtually anything you do in Moshi Monsters Village.
First let’s start out with some tips and cheats to get you more coins. To get the most out of your Moshlings and to upgrade them you have to treat them very well, tickle, wash, and feed them. When your Moshlings are leveled up they will produce more coins. There are also special types of Moshlings called “Gooperstars” these will produce more coins for you but they are harder to come across, also they cost more to purchase. Feeding them also facilitates this process o make sure to keep your crops stocked.
The primary objective besides taking care of the Moshlings you’ve already hoarded into your village, is to go out and rescue more of these little guys from Dr. Strangelove and his henchman. To do this go to the main menu and select a quests, these will unlock based on your level. Once a quest is selected hop in the Jeep with Buster Bumblechops and head out into the forest there you will find a Moshi trapped in a cage, surrounded by Dr. Strangeloves evil henchman.
To destroy these henchman simply swipe across the screen to slash the henchman in half, on the right hand side you’ll see how many you’ve destroyed as a fraction of the total. When all of them are destroyed free the Moshling by tapping continuously on the cage until the Moshling breaks free. Take them back to your village and proceed to care for them as you’ve been doing for your other Moshlings, feed, wash, tickle, etc.
Keep in mind that the difficulty of freeing a Moshling is directly proportional to how valuable they are. Each Moshling will give you coins once you free it, always attempt to go for the more valuable Moshi first, this is usually measured in coin per minute.
The Jeep doesn’t run on gasoline but rather uses a Moshi equivalent known as gloop. You start of with 10 gloops and each trip to save a Moshling costs a certain amount of gloop. If your tank is already full don’t accept any more gloop from the gift shop as the excess cannot be stored anywhere, thus it will go to waste.
Moshi Monsters Village strives to be a social game, you can earn plenty of free coins as well as access some cheats simply by connecting your social media accounts or by adding friends using their unique numerical identification number. If you don’t have a lot of friends who play Moshi Monsters Village, just look online to any of the forums or sites dedicated to this game and you will find plenty of people who post their ID and want to connect with other users. Of course you should exercise some caution whenever interacting with people you don’t know on the web.
If you’re low on coins or xp you can reach out to your Facebook friends to give you a helping hand or you can visit their villages in the game, you can also get free coins using this same method. To make the most use of your time plant different crops in each of your plots, making sure to have alternate growth times. For example, if you have several short term crops, several medium term crops, and several long term crops, you’re ensuring constant funds coming in at all times.
In earlier versions of Moshi Monsters Village you had the opportunity to enter cheat codes directly y going to the gift shop menu and accessing the purple safe icon. From there the cheat screen would open and you would merely type in a code to get free coins, gems, rox, moshlings, etc. Currently this isn’t available although there is a space where the purple safe used to be so keep an eye out in case this feature is returned in future versions.
Similarly, there are many promotions that coincide with holidays, seasons, etc. Currently for summer 2015 all in app purchases are 30% off. Expect to see similar promotions as we approach thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year. As a freemium game there are plenty of facets which can be unlocked using the premium currency, roxs and gems, these speed up the rate of construction, how fast plants grow, and the rewards you can receive. Purchasing any amount of rox, or any in app currency for that matter, will disable ads and open up a world of cheats for you to utilize.
Moshi Monsters Village is a fun game that has a lot of depth and plenty of activities to keep you busy. There were three primary dimensions to Moshi Monsters Village that made it a success as a strategy game, a simulation game, and an action/adventure game. The story line did wonders to evolve Moshi Monsters Village beyond the normal village sim and introducing the action/adventure aspect, which was further supported when you fought the henchman and freed the Moshlings from Dr. Strangeglove. Speaking of which, there were also some great 2016 pop culture references that would appeal to the older generations that are playing Moshi Monsters Village.
The graphics were impeccable, although they were two dimensional even though the app store description falsely describes it as being 3 dimensional. It’s clear that a lot of attention was payed to details, something which unfortunately gets overlooked quite often in children’s games. This has payed off dividends for the developers because its led to a strong and dedicated fan base, who by the way are a great resource for any issues you may encounter while playing Moshi Monsters Village.

The picture was very vibrant, the graphics were crisp, and the characters were very animated and lively. Each character had their own specific movements, each activity had its own animation, it’s clear that a lot went into the visual presentation of Moshi Monsters Village.
Sound/ Special Effects 10/10
Great sound work, calming music played during idle time, there were appropriate and unique sounds for each activity you were involved in, and different scenarios had different soundtracks that were relevant to what was going on in the game.
General Gameplay 9/10
Gameplay was responsive, aside from the lengthy introduction it was an open experience that allowed you to essentially do as you like, essentially dictating your own pace and strategy.
Originality/ Creativity 7/10
There are certainly many aspects that could be considered original to Moshi Monsters Village, and many themes which have been copied from other sources, nonetheless, there was no shortage of creativity in how the monsters looked, names chosen, design, etc.
Addictiveness 7/10
Certainly, Moshi Monsters Village is a fun game that many will play for a long time but not because it’s an addictive game. Surely the characters and the story line are endearing, even engaging, but there isn’t much of the quick reward and punishment that we see with addicting games.
