Monument Valley: Walkthrough Guide

This is a complete step-by-step walkthrough guide for the game Monument Valley by ustwo, with hints, tips, tricks and solutions for anyone who needs help with the game. Feel free to ask for help in the comments section.

Chapter/Level 1:

Turn the dial to rotate this corner piece like so to get across:

Chapter 2 (II): The Garden: In which Ida embarks on a quest for forgiveness.

First, rotate the piece so you can get to the first button:

Then go back to the start and rotate it like so to get to the second button:

And last, rotate it like so to get to the top. Ida will take a shape out of her hat and you complete the chapter.

Chapter 3 (III): Hidden Temple: In which Ida has an unexpected meeting.

You’re introduced to a new mechanism here. The pieces with the three dots on them can be slid back and forth or up and down. Ida can also stand on them when being moved, unlike the rotating pieces.

First, slide the bottom-most piece towards Ida. Climb up the ladder and onto that piece.

Then slide the piece with Ida on it to the other side:

Climb up the ladder and onto the sliding piece above, then slide it over to the other side.

Go through the doorway/tunnel to come out at the doorway above it:

Make sure the sliding piece at the top is slid down and move Ida onto it.

Slide the piece back up. Walk Ida over to the button to access the bridge and head towards the exit.

Talk to the old man and a tower will rise up behind him that you have to climb. Get to this first part and the bottom will fall away:

If you try to go around this way, the blocks crumble.

Stand on this spot and then slide the left-most dotted piece to make the piece you’re standing on rise up.

Walk off and climb up the ladders to this point:

Slide the right dotted piece up so the piece near you will slide down. Climb on top and make it slide back up.

Make the two pieces meet so you can climb onto the other one. Then make that rise up so you can reach the button and get to the top.

Chapter 4 (IV): Water Palace: In which Ida discovers new ways to walk.

Here you can walk sideways and upside-down. Turn the dial so you get stairs and go up as far as you can.

Spin the big pink dotted piece so you can climb onto it:

Spin it around again so you can reach the button. The button will turn the corner piece around.

Climb back onto the middle piece and turn it to match up with the corner piece, making a triangle.

Walk to the top of the triangle and then turn the piece so you can reach the doorway at the top and go through. You’ll come out at the bottom, and a bridge will form for you to cross.

Cross the bridge to a new monument. Step on the button so you can walk sideways.

Make your way up and slide the sliding piece forward so you can climb those stairs to the next button. Now you’ll be on the other side of it.

Spin the whole monument around so you have a different vantage point:

Go down as far as you can, then turn the monument again so you can cross the gap. Then start going up the stairs.

Turn it around again and go up the stairs and through the arch.

Turn it around again and climb up the ladder and step on the button. Then take the bridge to another monument.

Walk onto the pink dotted piece and than rotate it. You can now walk upwards.

Walk up, then rotate the pink piece again so you can continue left.

Rotate it again, then rotate the piece with the door so you can head down and go through it.

Talk to this guy and then go through the door at the top.

You’ll come out through this door. Rotate the pink piece again so you can reach the end of the chapter.
