Plants vs. Zombies 2 has finally arrived! The addictive strategy mobile gameplay of the original returns but this time time, it comes with a story scenario that places your plant army in different periods of time. So it turns out that there were undead minions shuffling around during the era of pirates and the ancient Egyptians.

This new time-travel gameplay throws in a few new kinks into the overall game mechanics of Plants vs. Zombies 2. We’ve played through several of the game’s time periods and came away with some helpful tips that will make your experience an easier one.

1. Have at Least 2 Rows of Sunflowers on Every Level

Sunflowers help supply the sun resources needed to buy your offensive and defensive plants. It’s best to place 2 full rows (vertically) of sunflowers just so you never run low on sun juice (which actually sounds delicious!). If you’re really adamant about protecting your sunflowers, place a Wall-Nut in front of both rows and supplement them with your offensive plants.
