‘Disney Infinity 2.0’: Top 10 Facts You Need to Know

In 2013, gamers of all ages got to enter the vibrant world within the Disney universe. The 1st edition of Disney Infinity compiled several Disney icons from both the animated and CG films that fans have become enamored with. To call this game and its physical playset add-on’s a success would simply be an understatement.

Now in 2014, Disney is ready to take its roster of Marvel Super Heroes and let them run wild in the Disney Infinity sandbox. This comic book-themed edition of the game will come with several plots to follow, new characters to control and the option to level up your Marvel Super Heroes roster.

Here’s everything you need to know about Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (2.0). Note that this release will come out on several platforms – Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, PC, PS Vita and iOS.


1. A Renowned Marvel Comic Books Writer has Penned the Game’s Story Details

Brian Michael Bendis.

Brian Michael Bendis, a longtime Marvel Comics writer and former artist, has lent his storytelling skills to the numerous plots in this 2.0 edition of the game. The game will feature a myriad of Marvel and Disney characters, but its three story campaigns will focus primarily on Marvel’s cast.

The Avengers Playset will focus on the all-star team facing off with Loki and MODOK as they attempt to freeze New York and rebuild the Casket of Ancient Winters. The Spider-Man Playset will focus on the webbed hero as he tries to stop the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and Mysterio as they look to clone the Venom symbiote and take over the world. The final Guardians of the Galaxy Playset will focus on the main storyline told in the film (the Guardians will battle with Ronan the Accuser as they both seek to wield a stolen Infinity Stone.

2. The New Characters Can Now Equip Packs and Tools

One of the newer features for this 2.0 edition is the addition of character packs and tools. Packs are described as items that can be worn and equipped to you chosen character, which will appear on your heroes back as a backpack. Some of the tools you’ll be able to place on your characters include all types of weapons that make sense being tied to certain heroes.

Along with the option to do this, you’ll now have the option to upgrade your heroes now that a Skill Tree is being added. With this mechanics, you’ll be able to upgrade each of your characters’ abilities. The level cap for all characters will now be raised from level 15 to level 20.


3. The Starting Roster Features a Wide Variety of Marvel Heroes and Villains

As expected, the starting lineup of characters that will be playable features several known faces from the Marvel Comics universe. You can expect to run around the game’s different Playset worlds as Loki, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Green Goblin, Spider-Man, Venom, Nick Fury, Iron Fist, Nova, Ronan, Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Gamora, Drax and Groot. Note that the 1.0 version of Disney Infinity’s Playsets, Power Discs and figurines will all be compatible with the 2.0 version.


4. Several Other Marvel Characters Will Appear in the Game as Opponents and Sidekicks

Along with the playable roster of Playset heroes and villains, a bunch of other Marvel Comics characters will make an appearance in the game. You’ll either have to face off with these characters during the main story missions or fight alongside them during intense battle encounters. Keep your eyes peeled for additional characters such as MODOK, Mysterio, Doctor Octopus (Tom Kenny), Power Man (Ogie Banks), Black Cat, Wasp, Cosmo the Spacedog, The Collector, Iron Patriot, Winter Soldier, Ant Man and White Tiger (Caitlyn Taylor Love).


5. Toybox Games Will Be Introduced

A new set of compatible game discs for this 2.0 version will come with a set of tower defense and dungeon crawling-esque adventures called “Toybox Games.” For example, one of these games (titled “Attack on Asgard”) will task players with using Loki as he tries to invade and take over Odin’s Palace.
