• The Barbarian troops are the 1st line of offense/defense that you unlock in your personal Barracks. These troops will hit their max level at level 7. It’s best to stock up a large horde of Barbarian troops since they’re more effective in this manner. Barbarians aren’t very strong against the types of defensive buildings that can dish out splash damage, though. Hurry and get these troops as close as possible to these defensive buildings before they get blown away. Barbarians work very well in tandem with Archers and Giants, by the way. Whenever you have to take down an enemy’s Barbarian King or Archer Queen, you’ll need to invest a swarm of Barbarians and Archers. This combo of troops won’t cost you a ton to produce, plus these troops will live much longer since both enemies only do attacks on single targets. Barbarians are the best troops to have stationed within your Clan Castle.
• The Archer class are great sharpshooters that have great ranged attacks. They’re also one of the starter units your unlock within your Barracks. They hit their max level at level 7 (their appearance looks the same at levels 1 & 2, plus levels 3 & 4). Archers are pretty weak, which is why they’re best when it comes to keeping them at a distance while they shoot down enemy troops and buildings. Archers have the ability to shoot over defensive walls, so make sure you compile these troop types in small groups for maximum offensive output. Once Archers make their way into a player’s fort, they’re great for destroying lone buildings. Set them on these single building targets while your other troops are hard at work. It’s great to keep the Archer Queen on your field since she can summon multiple Archers at one time via her Royal Cloak ability. Your Archers are pretty weak against all defensive buildings, so don’t get too attached to them during those more intense battles.
• Goblins are the fastest ground units in the game. They hit their max level at level 6. Goblins are great for raid-focused players since they target Resource Buildings once they being looting. You should produce these troops ASAP and have them take down Resource Buildings since they do double damage to these building types. Once all Resource Buildings are smashed by your Goblins, they’ll start attacking everything else. Don’t worry about producing some Goblins and having them fight alongside any troops that are close by; send them on looting ways and let your other troops fight the tough battles. Goblins should be the one troops you shouldn’t worry about when they land on traps. Goblins are pretty fast, so they have a better chance of escaping these traps once they’re activated. Along with Barbarians, Goblins are also a good troop to house in your Clan Castle. On the defensive side of things, it’s best to place a ton of Defensive buildings around your Resource Buildings.
