Update: It has been officially announced that Fallout Shelter will be available as a free download on the Google Play Store on August 13, 2015. Along with a host of new updates, a major new premium reward is on the way for both iOS/Android platforms:
The game will also include all-new updates including the introduction of Mr. Handy – the ultimate robotic companion – as a premium reward. Use him to collect resources inside your Vault, send him into the wasteland to collect loot, or defend your Vault from creatures and disasters, including new threats like Deathclaw invasions and Molerat infestations. This update will also be available on iOS on the same day.

Ever since its announcement and subsequent release during E3 2015, Bethesda Softworks’ Fallout Shelter has garnered tons of attention. Plenty of would-be Fallout fanatics have decided to handle the task of developing their own vault for their community of Dwellers. After its initial release, Fallout Shelter reached the #1 spot on Apple’s App Store and its daily play sessions clocked in at 70-million times. Revenue wise, the game has raked in $5.1-million during its first two weeks on the App Store.
At the moment, only iOS users have had the opportunity to put this mobile strategy game through its proper paces. So the question we all want an answer to is this one:
When can Android device owners expect to download and play Fallout Shelter for themselves?
The tweet posted above comes straight from Pete Hines, Vice President of PR/Marketing at Bethesda. He lets us know that the game is on track for an August 2015 release on Android devices. All the game’s updates that’s been released thus far (glitch fixes, general fix-up’s for the game, Photo feature etc.) are expected to be present in the Android version upon its launch.
