As all the other Monster Hunter games, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is a really huge and complex game that requires hours to finally understand many of its mechanics. Some gamers, however, may not have the patience to sit down and play the game for hours to just understand the mechanics that power the gameplay experience. For this reason, we have put together a Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Beginners Guide that will help you understand the basics of the game while having fun.
Before being able to do anything in the game, you will have to find out which weapon works best for you. The 11 weapon types of the game are all different from each other and each one requires a good understanding of its properties to become truly effective.
Luckily the game offers you the chance to try out all of them without leaving the village. Just speak to the village chief and then head to the Training School, which is on the opposite side of the Guild Hall. Once there, go through the basic Hunter info and you will be able to select Weapon Usage. Once selected, you will be able to complete some really simple tasks while trying out each weapon type. Make sure to try them out as much as possible to find out which one works best for you.
Once you have found a good weapon type, it’s time to really start the game. In order to achieve anything in the game, you will have to start accepting quests, which can be found in the two Guild Halls. The Guild Halls quests can be a bit though for most newcomers, so it’s a good thing to start with the quests given by the Village Chief. While most of these quests may look a bit boring, they’re way easier than the others so they’re just perfect to get used to the game.
If you’re still unsure about the game’s mechanics, don’t just jump into the hunting quests. The gathering quests are another good way to learn more about the game without putting yourself into a dangerous situation.
While hunting big monsters, there are a few things you should keep in mind before jumping into the fight. For starters, never go attack a new monster as soon as you see it: most likely you will just get damanged. Instead, just keep away from it and try to understand how it behaves. Once you feel like you know how the monster acts, you can start the real attack.
When you meet a new monster, most of the times it’s always better to damage it with non-elemental attacks. After you have defeated it and gathered some parts, you can check out the properties of the armor that can be crafted from these parts to check out which element the monster is weak against so that next time you will be able to take it down in a faster way.
