If you want to know why, here is is: the clue is on the screen with the door (or that with the paint cans): white, gray, black. Which means that first is the number of white pieces, then the number of white + (red cross) black, then the number of black pieces.
And since we have 22 white objects and 16 black ones, the code is 223816 and you can exit room 15 in 100 Rooms!
