A Story of a Band Tips & Strategy

Last week I wrote about A Story of a Band, an Android rock band sim game that manages to pack quite a punch and deliver a positive experience that few games manage to. However, A Story of a Band is also an extremely challenging game and some help is always welcome, so I am here to share with you a set of tips and tricks for A Story of a Band, hopefully helping you create a perfect strategy in your quest of becoming the best rock band of all times.

So, in no particular order, here are the tips & strategy suggestions that I penned down for A Story of a Band for Android:

1. When starting the game, I found out that choosing well balanced members is a better idea than having specialized ones. Eventually, all the skills of your band members will matter and be required for a part of the game, so it’s not good to be drawn back a lot by them.

2. As soon as you start the game, you should write an album and start touring. Don’t worry about the crappy quality of your album – unfortunately you can’t wait for a top album, but you will have to slowly climb your way up. You need money more than anything to keep the band rocking, so focus on that first album and touring.

3. Always have in mind that your yearly payments are paid in February. A good strategy to gain some extra money is to work on and release a new album around July – August and keep touring. Always keep an eye on your finances because once in the red zone, it’s pretty difficult to recover.

4. Of course, touring is really important when you have successful gigs. A failed tour gives you absolutely nothing (except for some upset band members), so do all you can to NEVER fail a tour. Use your band’s boosts as soon as the tour starts and always play it safe: don’t go for the encore boost unless you are 100% sure you can still meet the requirements at the end of the tour, otherwise it’s wasted money and fame and rock music, and all these mean that you’ll hit rock bottom soon.

5. During tours, make sure to avoid anything that will tire your band members (such as interviews) and always have some boosts at hand.

6. Actually, always have some boosts at hand and never hesitate to use them when the situation asks for it.

7. Another important thing is to constantly improve your band’s members: level them up as much as possible (without risking to run out of money when February comes) and keep them training the skills they’re not good at. Don’t rush into battling other bands until you are ready and have built up your band members a little, meaning that you should not accept a battle as soon as it is unlocked.

8. With your artists leveled up and well rested, keep working on albums. Pay attention to any contracts that are offered for you – some are good, while others are not that good for you. Aim to get contracts with performance bonuses and try to meet those requests to gain even more money.

9. Learn about your genre. When writing songs, you need to match the genre with subjects related to the genre, so if know nothing or little about rock music, make sure to ask somebody who knows (or simply google the genre!)

10. Keep working hard: with one eye on the money, keep releasing albums and touring until you get to the top. Make sure that you get the Road Crew upgrade as soon as you can afford it and take part to festivals and never fail. If you do this, your band will surely become the best rock band that ever existed!

And these are 10 very important (or at least so I think) strategy tips for A Story of a Band. What other tips and tricks would you have to share with fellow Story of a Band players? Let us know in the comment section below.
