Trials Frontier is brought to you by Ubisoft, one of my favorite game publishers of all time, up there with Bioware and Codemasters. So you can be certain that any game from Ubisoft is polished and has a good amount of depth that should keep you playing another round and another and another. If you have not given this game a try, I strongly suggest you do. It is FREE after all. If you are still in doubt, go ahead and read my review from a little over a month ago.
For those of you who have tried it and are having trouble progressing or having fun with it, this is where I come in and hopefully shine some light on some tips and tricks you might not have known until today. Like I mentioned in my previous guide, if any of these made a metaphorical bulb light up over your head, or made you say/think “Hey why didn’t I think of this?”, I consider this guide a success.
Pick yourself up and try again!
If you find yourself terrible at a particular course, don’t just move on to the next course. Click the restart/retry button and practice that course until you get a good time and some well earned medals. Doing this will not use up your gas, so you can retry however many times you wish to. I would strongly recommend finishing the course before retrying (instead of retrying the whole course when you drop once), so that you get some practice for all of the checkpoints.
Restarting from the checkpoint doesn’t really help because the time still ticks on, and it adds to the number of deaths, making you earn very little points and gain little to no medals for that round. When you feel you have mastered the course, restart all the way from the beginning and get that elusive gold medal!
Flip it!
When you are cruising along a level and getting to the finish line, don’t just close one eye. The more stunts and flips you perform, the more coins you earn!
You definitely need the coins to upgrade your bike, which can be quite pricey in my opinion. So instead of replaying stages over and over again in a boring rush to the finish line, why not spice up the stages that you are running by trying to do 5 backflips or 7 frontflips? Challenge Accepted!
This will also help you avoid the evil in-app-purchases (IAPs) that free-to-play games often shove in our faces. You don’t have to buy coins if you have just a little patience. These stunts and flips will help with alleviate the pressure.
Wheel of Fortune!
After completing a level, you will be asked to spin the wheel. Whichever item the wheel’s pointer stops at, that’s what you will get as reward for completing the stage. However, did you know that you can influence the outcome of the wheel? Yes! In fact, they even teach you how to do it early on, so no, it is not a cheat. Just tap and hold on the item you want on the wheel before you spin it, and it will increase the chances of that particular item getting picked. Savvy huh?
Be stingy!
Try the best you can not to spend any gems. Save it for when you have reached higher levels and some upgrades/bikes require the use of gems.
The same goes for coins. When upgrading your bike, you can choose to either find all the parts or pay more coin to replace those parts. ALWAYS FIND THE PARTS! Trust me, you need the money for other things.
Good luck!
There you go, I hope any of these tips will help you on your way to becoming an ultimate stunt biker. The most important tip I can give to you is to practice, practice, practice. With more practice, you will learn the nuances of the gameplay, such as when to lean forward/backward or when to accelerate. Don’t expect to master a stage in a single attempt. Expect to die a lot.
Cheers!
