Can you play a games where you have a fake life

There are a few 'games' which allow you to have a fake life. Most RPG (Role-Playing Games) would fall under this category, but other simulation games also fall under this, particularly the Sims (PC Game by Maxis). Second life is also such a game, and while more fantasy based, is considered more real as you interact with other people online.
