Could you play half-life 1 on a Windows XP

Yes. You can if you buy it on the Valve 's Steam. The game will run from Steam and of course will be working on Windows XP.


However, if you are trying to install and play from the "old days" CD, try this:

• go to the file that launches the game. Should be something like HL.exe
  
• right-click on it and go access the properties (should be on the bottom)
• select the Compatibility tab and check the box with the "Run this program in compatibility mode for : "
• select the operating system that is accepted by your game (probably Windows 95)
  
• click "Apply" then "Ok" and close the window
  
• Start the game
