No, that is not true. It's the other way round, actually. But, you will be able to choose for yourself who's better after I label their pros and cons.

Reshiram

Pros:
-Reshiram is much better and more useful in competitive battling, with unresisted STAB, higher Special Defense which is better because the metagame normally uses Special Attacks, especially with the rise of tanks, and since most Ubers are special-oriented.
-Reshiram has good partnership, like for example, Reshiram is able to do a sweep after a boost from Groudon's permanent sun, where Zekrom has to only depend on himself to attack.
-Reshiram has better offensive move-pool, able to use Flame Charge to increase it's speed then sweep, or even doing the Edge + unresisted STAB coverage which hits a lot in the game.
-Reshiram has a good ability to compliment his unresisted STAB, since he is able to attack any Pokemon in the whole metagame. Heatran is able to counter Dragon by Steel, and is able to absorb Fire, but Reshiram's Turboblaze is able to bypass Flash Fire.

Cons:
-Low mediocre speed. Although this doesn't change a thing, since Zekrom has the exact same speed as it.
-Weakness to stleath rock. This is actually not too much of a problem, as a rapid-spinner in your team will kill that entry hazard.

Zekrom

Pros:
-Zekrom has one good thing, now. Although not good as Reshiram by typing, his does quite well, having unresisted STAB attacks except for Steelix, Excadrill, and Nattorel. But, they are not so much seen anyway, except for Nattorel, who's becoming a new and better Fortress soon enough.
-High attack, which is good enough to take down the likes of Ho-oh, Lugia and also Kyogre. This is quite remarkable.

Cons:
-Weakness to Ice, which is wielded by many in the form of Hidden Power.
-Many special attackers are able to revenge-kill Zekrom.
-Does not have amplifying power in weather, and it lacks boosting moves, unlike Reshiram, although both lack of moves.

Verdict:
If you're the happy go lucky guy who plays just for the fun of it, and those that never even heard of Smogon or competitive battling, use Zekrom. He's the cool one to show off for you.
If you're the one that fights Uber trainers every single day, you'll learn to hate Zekrom and learn to utilize Reshiram, the top threat of the current metagame.

Conclusion:
This is for future readers who will read this, and as I laid out, find out what's best for your type and style, as I labeled above. But, if you are a power-mad Nazi ready for endless war, take Reshiram.
