What is a beta copy

A beta copy is what is first released to the public of a new product or software program. It is released so that the manufacturer of the software is able to get feedback from the people on whether they like it or not, or if there are any bugs in it. It is kind of like a pre-release of a product but it is mainly to find out if there are any problems with the software.
