Why use storyline in games
Storylines in video games is like an interactive movie. It appeals to people who are interested in taking part in a long story and helping it unfold. You are the main character and your actions contribute to when you can finish the movie, sometimes how the story will end. Most games have a story because it serves as a point of focus in the game and allows for a goal to be achieved. Players are more motivated to continue the game because they are interested in what happens next. It allows for a replay value as well because players will return to the game to once again unravel a story and grow fond of characters in the game and dialogues sequences (if any). However, some games lose quality in the actual gameplay when creators seem to have become too involved in their story. Therefore creating a sucky game.
