Is Sonic sixteen years old as of Sonic Generations

Sega has gone on record that sonic has not gotten any older in universe. But his official age has actually gone down, he was 16 years old in a majority of the games starting from Sonic Adventure "
It's best just to believe sonic is however old you think he is, Sega doesn't keep track of things like that.
