Why does your screen go black when you play a steam video game
This issue may occur because the drivers are not updated. So you
would need to download and update the latest drivers from the
computer manufacturer's websites.
To check and update the driver, follow the below mentioned steps:
1. Select Start > (right click) My Computer > Manage
2. In the Management window select > Device Manager
3. In Device Manager, locate the device you want to update, and
then double-click the device name.
4. A yellow triangle will signify a problem so if one is present,
right-click that device and select Properties
5. You can then choose to update the driver
If the above does not fix the problem, Run the System File Checker
Tool:
1. Open a Command Window in Administrator mode:
a. Click Start
b. Click All Programs, then Accessories
c. Right click on the Command Prompt option, on the drop down menu
which appears, click on the Run as Administrator option.
d. If you haven't disabled User Account Control (and you shouldn't)
you will be asked for authorization. Click the Continue button if
you are the administrator or insert the administrator password.
2. Start the System File Checker
3. In the Command Prompt window, type:sfc /scannow, Press Enter.
4. You'll see "the system scan will begin".
5. The scan may take some time and windows will repair/replace any
corrupt or missing files. You will be asked to insert your Vista
DVD if it's needed.
6. Close the Command Prompt Window when the job is finished.
If all the above steps don't work, then perform a system restore to
check if the game is working fine at a previous date.
Note: Restoring the system would remove any applications which were
installed from the restoration date to the current date.
