Is there a faster way to evolve a chao in to a hero chao in sonic adventure 2 battle

there is a method of fast evolution in which you must buy 1 or more of every fruit and test each on your chao. the one he will throw away almost immediately is his least favorite if you want a dark chao keep giving this fruit to him a a light and same with light give as a dark character.
